Opening up more versatile build paths for Heimerdinger..

Heimerdinger, while a pretty well balanced champion (in my opinion) has one small issue. In every game, your build is essentially the same. While the same can be argued about some other champions, Heimerdinger's design and kit is pretty unique so to not take advantage of that is a crime. More versatile build paths could be obtained with some small changes to Heimerdinger. The most obvious, of course, is to let his turrets take on a % of his BONUS defenses/HP. This would make Tankerdinger viable, and would encourage a more utility based Heimer rather than the basic "sit in my turrets and wait for you to dive me" playstyle.

Heimerdinger can be played very offensively. For example Heimerdinger vs Karthus is usually in favor of Karthus because he can just sit back and cs on turrets which is why you should always be moving and aa-ing him as much as possible.

Heimerdinger can buy Banner of Command vs picks such a Leblanc who do not CS very well with AAs, so her lane will always be pushed.

Heimerdinger can also buy Liandry's if the enemy team if pretty MR-ish and tanky af.

vs a Syndra you might want to invest in CDR/shoes first because she will always land your turret on donger and you might desire relatively constant trading and the ability to spam qs.

Spellvamp Donger is considered to be a joke, but lasers do provide Spellvamp unlike regular turret shots.

You're considering that Heimerdinger is annoying in some situations when other lanes are failing so roaming is hard for him. That is why I invest in TP because I abuse offensive positioning from enemy comps.

The effects of scaling HP on turrets would be

A greater laning phase hell for AP/AD bursters which he was practically designed to counter
Your team being reliant on your Q positioning meaning AoE champions would shit on your comp.
Again CDR.

What is this 1 build that heimer must always do? He struck me as a fairly versatile guy. I mean he will never build nashors, but every big AP item is potentially valid on him. All of them. Some are just more situational than others.

My Heimer build with over 150 ranked games (this season) between 2 diff accts is always... Banner / Zhonyas / Athenes or Liandrys / Void / Deathcap / Boots. The only time there's really any need for variation is if they have heavy tank team in which you'd build Liandry's in place of Athene's.

hmm, have you tried RoA/archangels builds instead of Athenes? It results in far higher AP than Athenes. Also, heimer seems like a very very strong candidate for Abyssal Scepter if he lures people into turret nests.

Though you likely know better than me. You have a ton of heimer play.

I'd considered that before, but the CDR from Athene's benefits Heimer a lot more. It allows Heimer to be a bit more mobile, able to reposition his turrets a lot faster, especially when fighting a strong wave clear comp/champions. If it weren't a issue, RoA would be a viable alternative though. I've tried it but I'm personally I'm not a fan.

Fair point. Knowing me I'd go for a slow burn tanky heimer.

Morellonomicon, Rylies, Liandrys, Then Zhonyas, Rabadons, Abyssal, as needed by game.

Also Archangel's is a PAIN to stack on Heimer.

Wow, that is precisely the build I always use, the combination of high AP, max CDR, and a lot of mana is great for him. I would like to see options other than "Build AP and hide in your nest", like a true support Heimer would be awesome, with his grenade ult engage, or like you said, tankerdinger, or maybe even a fully realized jungledinger.

DFG on Heimer is not bad if the enemy team has one tank.

Morello is situational if you're vs a swain.

RoA is fine since lanes are generally long.

Visage works on hp regen passive.
