I know how to lane against her. I win lane vs her about 70% of the time, other times where I'm unfortunately counterpicked I get stomped or I'm massively outplayed.
However, I am not always guaranteed top vs her, therefore when my top laner gets his ass handed to him at lvl 2 for FB or something like that, there's nothing left to do because she's guaranteed to do a tower dive at lvl 6 for another kill and snowball to victory.

Nameless Voice4 votesThis is one of the main reasons I ban her. At low Platinum rank, there are a lot of people who got there solely by playing Riven. They usually have the Battle Bunny skin, are really good at her mechanics / animation cancelling, but have poor map awareness and generally poor teamwork (they are more likely to be toxic); they also tend to be bad at any other champion.
I ban Riven with the hopes that if such players are on my team, they'll dodge, but if they are on the enemy team, they'll pick something else and fail hard.
(I also ban her because I hate trying to gank her if she is doing well in lane, which often results in her just turning around and murdering me in a 1v2.)

. Even with her Q, my W stops her, I have a E heal and a Q to deal bonus damage. My R also allows me to poke turret with no real consequence. She can ult all she wants, the problem is my passive and her trying to catch me.

Watch as your top lane returns top to die again and again, then your jungler ganks for him to serve Riven up a nice double kill and she rapidly becomes able to 1v4.

Meep Man3 votesI always ban feast or famine champions, at least until the players around me seemingly can more consistently make them go famine. Riven and Katarina are too risky to leave on the field since, if fed, they are INCREDIBLY hard to stop.
Vesarixx1 votesI started playing Kat the other day, with her kit, she should not be winning lane, but half of the games I've played I have been ahead or even in CS, and killed my lane opponent 2-3 times before the laning phase ends, and even if I don't, I just need to roam to a side lane at the right time and I get right back into the game or ahead.

Rivens comebackpotential isnt nearly as strong as the comebackpotential of katarina, she actually has a really hard time getting back into the game against non idiots. Btw, yes. Riven suckz currently and is in her weakest state since release and winning against her isnt a problem if you are not braindamaged currently. But if you have this special person on toplane who feeds her in the first 2 minutes then yes, she will snowball AS A CHAMPION WHO IS DESIGNED to do that.

A Miss Fortune1 votesI agree, if Katarina picks up a few kills early game it goes a really long way and allows her to absolutely stomp the game. Even if you have CC it's meaningless since it can take her far less than even 0.5 seconds to instakill you.
Sure most Katarina players think they can 1v5 at level 1 and will most likely feed, but I think there's a huge risk in not banning her in solo queue in all elos simply because of how hard she snowballs.
