What if Malz's E worked as an AoE instead of a point and click?

I'd imagine you'd have to lower the damage to make him not just infect a wave to death with one ability.

So people keep complaining that Malz was unjustly changed because he provided an uninteractive laning phase and they cite people like Ahri or Ekko also being uninteractive because of how their harass works.

You guys realize that you can dodge Ahri or Ekko's Q. You can't really dodge Malz E. let's also not forget how his E spreads if he last hits with it. Which could mean he can farm the wave without needing to worry about you OR focus you while his E does the job for him.

In my mind, that's uninteractive. I can dodge and punish Ekko (maybe not Ahri cause Ahri) if he misses his Q. I can't really punish Malz if he just decides to farm with his E and Ignore me.

Especially now with his spellshield passive (this doesn't need DR imo).

it is relatively short range with a brief spell channel time and a huge manacost. It pays for its OP powers.

For an ability by itself, yes. But the fact that it causes minion to autotarget, makes it OP.

So because it makes the Voidlings function instead of completely uncontrollable?

Target abilities are generally shorter ranged than skillshots

Target abilities are guaranteed to hit for the most part.

Mobile champs usually have to come close up to fight you.

Target abilities are there to counter mobile champs as in accordance with the triangle of mid lane

Range > Target > Mobility > Range

When people referenced Ekko and Ahri, I believe they were referring to their waveclear rather than their harass.

In my experience, they often work as both.
