Mages dominate the meta, I am glad Yasuo exists.

So, mages have dominated the meta, most of the mages are ranged, have frustrating one shot burst, and underwhelming easy mechanics. the three types of mages that exist in league goes as follow. Traditional mages TaliyahOrianna Azir (Aka I am the biggest tool ever,) One shot burst mages LeblancAnnie Lux (aka Lel one shotted), or tank mage Chogath Kassadin Swain (AKA I do too much damage and take no incoming damage.

The fact of the matter is while none of there champions are by any means impossible to beat, when they get ahead, they are devastating to your entire team. Yasuo stands a better chance earlier then Akali or Zed. So, Yasuo is essential to the meta. Yasuo also has the problem of being a God damn minion if he gets behind which, is easy to do.

I am aware some of there has viable counters like Swain is countered by Grievous Wounds. I am just glad one champion steps on League of Mages.

Mages are dominating the meta? I think AD mids are dominate right now...or at least more common than almost ever in the past few seasons. They've died down a bit in the past 2 patches, but they're certainly not weak. We're even seeing a significant increase in double ADC comps in both "normal" elo and competitive play.

Mages aren't op, but they are at the height of the meta. (Ryze, Azir, Viktor, Vlad etc).

Those 4 are big right now, but it's not just a meta issue. Ryze and Vlad were just reworked and were very strong out of the gate. Azir is a hypercarry that was just too strong early. Victor is an all-around safe pick (he goes with any team comp and in almost any lane matchup). There's been a definite tick up in the occurrence of AD mids like Zed and Yasuo this season as a whole, and even AD marksmen mids.

I have not seen viktor been played in years. the issue with Ryze is he roots you does a full combo not counting his ult and you're instantly forced to pop a potion or recall. Vlad in my opinion is a safe pick, his abilitys restore more health then he loses. Even with grevious wounds on him hes still a pain to fight. I don't like How Azirs minions out trade you, there is no way to fight them and, with proper positioning he can flat out zone you from getting any CS.

as for assassins I play yasuo, and zed mid and I don't do bad but, early game is a struggle because of champions like Azir, Heimerdinger, zyra who just zone you it forces zed to long ranged Q farm and for Yasuo to rely on sweeping blade and his passive to keep him safe.

I have not seen any ADC mids well APC Mid Jhin and APC mid miss Fortune thats not really ADC though.

you seem to understand what you're talking about though.

I completely understand what you mean. I've just seen quite a few Victors since he works with almost any team comp, and is one of the few mages you can first pick reliably. Worst case, you farm under turret pretty safely. I've seen a pickup in trist, ez, varus, jhin, and a few others mid going AD. It's not a huge problem (and is falling off already), but it's definitely more common now than in past seasons in my observation.

Oh well, nice discussion. :)

Not sure how azir is a traditional mage, a bit confused there

Hrd2H1t1 votes

Orianna is also really weird

VeterenMantis1 votes

Traditional mages have interactions with their abilitys IE taliyas and her dirt circles and Azir with his minions.

Not sure how kassadingggg is a tank. totaly confused.

Kassadin is a mage tank because being tanky enough to tank shots and damagey enough to one shot your ass, there is no reason to build flat AP kassadin unlike flat AP annie/leblonc/syndra.

SOME mages are a little easy to use, but hard to master. Azir/Orianna are a little bit harder than most,

Azir is weak without soldiers and has long cooldowns, in the laning phase you can easily go straight for him whenever he uses his W.

Taliyah has worked ground which is a little harder than some champs. Her move that launches stuff in the air is hard to hit also.

Leblanc has horrible waveclear. Annie has short range.

Mostly, mages are underplayed. People prefer to use assassins...at least I barely see mages anywhere, and when I do it's always the free ones for that week.

Yasuo does have a counter against a certain champion that gets past his shield and can knock him back whenever he decides to get close, and that's Syndra :U

The real counter to mages, are assassins though...wait no..fighters...yeah fighters because they don't really use mana...but tanks don't either...and tanks are hard to kill...do assassins use mana? Oh well, EVERYTHING counters mages! :D

Azir and orianna are harder to use :Fact. Oriana and azir have a higher skill cap then say Annie or Leblonc. Taliyah is pretty much an APC lucian Only thats not even her ult and it does similar damage over a shorter duration while also slowing and procs thunderlords decree.

I don't have any trouble getting CS with leblonc early game or late. Annie relies on flash that is mostly true, But its a flat out one shot with no second chances its a flat 100-0.

Its rare to see an assassin mid because they get #rekt by the larger range and get poked unable to get a decent bit of CS. Yasuo's passive shield is a good passive but, the real counter is his wind wall, projectiles of any kind even Syndra's orbs and even her ult can't go through the wind wall. thus it stands to reason Yasuo counters Syndra.

Fighters suffer from the same flaws as assassins Most mages are long range and have flat out one shot mechanics and that forces a paradox, Ether the bruiser takes the poke in order to get CS or they get starved of CS and get flat out one shot combo. if the fighter can't compensate for getting behind the game is a lost cause however; if the fighter is able to keep up then the mage is in a touch spot and has to rely on ambush hit and run tactics.

Even though his windwall blocks her ult, he can't block it if he's stunned. I think the person with the most skill would win here since they counter eachother. Yasuo can only dodge her dark sphere poke, and Syndra can only dodge his tornado. An easy way to beat him is to farm under the turret, if he goes to gank other lanes then that's when you attack his turret. As long as you're in your own turret's range, if he ults you he'll probably die.

Funny that yasuo was designed with bot lane in mind. The usual not mage heavy lane. Yet he almost never gets played down there.
