Something I noticed about bot lane

Usually the lane that wins has a support playing alongside the adc making plays, zoning and applying varying degrees of pressure.

Usually the lane that loses has a support playing behind the adc and being passive.

I feel any support who goes into games with the second plan in mind is usually giving their team a handicap.

It's pretty frustrating trying to manage the wave, csing, attacking the enemy adc when he cs's, keeping an eye on the minimap and having to deal with the zoning from the enemy support, all without your support applying some pressure/ zoning of their own

Yeah, a lot of people who end up playing support, are not actually good supports, sometimes including those who queue as support.

There are people who think if they play janna/soraka, that they should be sitting way back and just healing/shielding sometimes, but that misses out on a lot of potential. Theres also supports (mage supports or otherwise) who feel like if they're not aggressively trading or going all in at all times then they're also wasting their potential, but that's usually also incorrect.

People need to read their bot lane partner, and try to push the limits of what the two of you can safely do. Sometimes it becomes apparent that the other can be relied on to be thinking along the same lines as you and it's magical, but other times one wants to be more passive, and the other wants to be aggressive, and usually everyone dies. I generally think people should err on the side of caution in those situations, and play further back with whichever partner is a bit more timid. Sometimes they're just ultrapassive players who don't realise what you could be getting away with, but occasionally they do have a better sense for danger and just don't want to participate in the others suicidal aggression.

It's important to note this goes both ways, so sometimes it's not the support being too passive, but the adc being too aggressive (or vice versa). I've seen plenty of ham supports all in only to get 3v1'd by the waiting jungler that I backed off from since my danger sense was tingling, while they grumble about me being too passive, and similar in reverse. The key is really to get on the same page as one another and play together, since that's when things that "shouldnt" work in theory sometimes work anyway.

Well yeah. A lot of these people that think they can play support but their adc is getting hammered.. it's typically the support's fault. I seen a soraka takin the offense path and not healing our Lucian and then getting mad at him. It's like, if you wanted to play damage sup then go brand.

It's about having a lane presence, even soraka can exude some level of pressure. Any support just hanging out behind their ADC is making everyone elses job harder

First and foremost, almost none of adc players cannot play duo lane.Of The Heezy is among them. He believes ADC does what he wants, and support somehow miraculously saves him. The sad fact in my experience is the fact adc usually loses the lane, and even more when there is healer support. I have won lots of games by leaving my support solo lane forcing him to play more careful. When I was on lane he was daredevil without wits if Matt Murdoch.

Too many adc players believe supports are their servants, and under their command. This is truly sad, when most of the time experienced support is the player who should lead the lane. And due this attitude problem of adcs, new support players are hammered into submission, and can never learn how to support. You cannot learn to act when you are told not to act. When support is too scared to "killsteal" and tilting of adc for slightest displeasure of adc player, they soon become unable to act when they should. Giving kills is nice objective, but most of the time it fails, as it requires vast amount of skill I do not yet have. And I an almost on top 10 of Zyra mastery with my zyra supporting with 1,5 million mastery points.

Man, your English is so bad... this comment was devastating to read, Kudos to you though because I don't know other languages at all.

Xayah and rakan are a perfect example... they literally have bonuses when together.. and each half of a wing.. I think riot is pushing the whole support and adc work together and great things happen ...

I main support and adc... and helping the adc get fed and protecting them benefits the team so much. ADC doesn't think you are their slave.. Adc's have the most sustained dps potential on the team. As a support in SOloQ.. you need the attitude (Let me get this baddie fed and protect his dumb ace from dying). You want to protect and invest time as much as possible into that sustained DPS(adc).. to increase your dmg for mid/late teamfights (and protect them from getting zoned). If you protect your adc from getting zoned..you increase their gold from csing... If you leave them in lane alone.. a 1v2 lane they will be zoned OUT OF GOLD. and possibly flashed dived. I see your history and you always run Smite and TP... TP save top laner/get a kill.. thresh sees you tp.. flash hooks the adc.. they get a kill.. Now the enemies' sustained DPS just received more gold. You come back to lane now you are lower level and you don't have exhaust cause you took smite ( prob for drag steals and large minions) and u take relic shield to prevent too much cs steals from the adc from plants.. Now you come back to lane and you are all like AHAHA I got a kill top lane... My adc is stupid for dying "they don't kno how to play safe" - He got flash hooked.... "he should dodge it" "he should stand far back and miss out on 12 minions (a kills worth of gold)" Now that you are in lane and enemy has exhaust they have dominance in the lane and since they have exhaust (reducing dmg by 40% for 2.5 seconds) you cannot beat them ever.. I assume since you don't have flash.. you stand behind the adc the whole time, letting them get zoned saying they don't play safe..

You're posts all defend support as being independent, but running smite/tp.. you prob get flamed by so many adc's.. why? cause they are getting zoned all game.. A good support will understand that he has Ignite (extra dmg on u) or exhaust (extra dmg mitigation vs u) and they will take heavy advantage of it.... A good jungler will see you do not have flash and will camp your lane.. Since you are bronze 1 no one understand this and you luck out on all these wins.. when u could just straight carry urself to gold with flash and exhaust and dedicating time to the adc... ( do you have a mastery point in DOING dmg to enemies gives allies 3% more dmg to them.. I will bet a skin on it that you dont....lol...

How many games have you still take tp/smite vs any assassin or katarina.. WE NEED YOUR EXHUAST the team needs your exhaust.. the team needs you to BLOCK 40% dmg of ZED FROM KILLING OUR SUSTAINED DPS teammate..........

I 100% agree... most guides acknowledge this for support players, yet so many games the support player doesn't understand...

I main both adc and support... and its actually bad that I do, because you just see how inappropriately positioned all these supports are... THE WORST OF IT IS.. They didn't help you much in lane and you got zoned all laning phase... didn't get you fed... then mid/late game they roam all over the place and don't peel for you one bit... then it turns into "this adc sucks/sucked" Or they go mid level 6 with their ult.. and its like DUDE U SCREWED ME ALL LANE PHASE! NOW U GO GIVE YOUR FIRST ULT TO THE MID LANER?

Full health Braums and lLeonas standing a flash length behind you... so even if u make a nice trade.. u can't capitalize because they aren't in position..

Support should ALWAYS be parallel to or slightly in front of the adc, maintaining bush control (vision).. when the support is below half health.. okay maybe you stand behind me... but that's it.. (of course there are many exceptions, but this is the general rule)

Its basically all about angles of attack... if the support is standing back... they give more angles to the enemy on your adc.. They don't have to poke or do anything necessarily... but at least be in position and in range of the ally adc so if the enemy makes a mistake you can do something...

But then again, you do get those super agro Sonas that go 0/7 in 15 mins... they don't understand.. just Q - auto attack.. run away.. no use standing around while Q is on cooldown giving the enemy opportunity to poke you back.

First, you got only half correct as you focus on kills and burst damage. Your kind of people cannot understand forcing enemy defensive can give team more than killing them outright. Do I like leavong adc alone? No, I do not. That does not mean I have not learn hard lesson I have to leave adc and go help some other lane.

You also neglect tactical uses of tp making creep tank tower, decoy tps saving allies, and faster movement to lane needing help.
