Just because a champion isn't mechanical doesn't mean they are braindead

a good example of this is warwick, warwick is easy to play, but in order to be a good warwick main you have to know the ins and outs of jungling, which is certainly not braindead. Just because someone mains a champion that isn't mechanically intensive doesn't mean that they have no skill or they are boosted etc.

the same can be said for Lulu, Garen, Janna (insert "braindead" champion here) etc.

Yeah, it still kinda does. A bunch of the things you listed are completely separate from the champion themselves. A high ELO player is higher ELO because of general game knowledge, macro, farming, general laning, jungle pathing, reaction times, etc that are separate from the champ. That doesn't mean there champ still isn't really easy to use.

Karthus is braindead. Cause he died. And so did his brain.

IMO the player's skill doesn't concern me, it's more the strength of a champion relative to their difficulty more on the balance side of things. For example: Thresh vs. Blitz. Thresh certainly can express skill more in situations, but there's still something off in how effective Blitz can be for being so safe, one dimensional, and easy. It makes me sad for Blitz to be meta and hardly ever see Thresh.

Blitz hook takes about the entire wind up time and flying time of thresh's hook just to fly you can literally side step it without a movement ability with just boots at slightly less than max range. Blitz can sit back and fish for hooks all game but that is far far from his best use he has much better use running in as a tank and fishing for mid range hooks or tanking peeling and walking to the side in a team fight and bringing the back line to the front.

This. Once you can land hooks semi-regularly on Blitz, you should be learning to play Thresh because he offers your team so much more of an advantage if you can use him properly. But Blitzcrank is so strong that most of the time I still feel incentivized to pick him anyway. Still, I would rather see an inexperienced Thresh on my bronze team than a new Lee Sin.

SSSSSH!!! Don't say that! Or else people like tarzaned and the high elo gang won't have anything else to brag about and attract viewers!

If a champion was braindead then reaching high elo would be a simple matter of choosing a good champion. However, it doesn't seem to be the case...

People call champs brain dead, but let's face it, we've all seen the Master Yi that feeds because the player doesn't know what he's doing. The OP makes a valid point, but what's worse is the fact the second pro players try to use these champs to their advantage they get nerfed for the rest of us. Look at Malz. Considered a point and click champion, but the use of his q is paramount to success. Still the pros find success on him and riot respond with nerfs that take him to teir 5. Meanwhile brand gets a buff to his passive because he lost out on death fire touch. Sadly unless riot accept that balancing doesn't mean nerfing to the ground or buffing to godhood we'll continue to see champions with so much potential nerfed the second the pros decide they're viable.

Ammm i think you're confusing role with champ. Every jungler needs to know the "ins and out" of jungling, this has nothing to do with champ. Not agreeing or disagreeing with your general point, but the arguement is pretty weak.

Then why do people discredit high elo Janna mains if they have to know everything about support (granted nit as difficult as jungle)

I do think that's an interesting observation.

OP's comment makes a point until various comments say it's not about the player, which makes sense as a super skilled player will do amazing in their role in ways that are not determined by their champions moveset... but it does make you wonder, then, why good players get their skills as a player tossed aside for playing certain champs. Kinda sad.

I agree about Warwick or Garen, but not Janna/Lulu because they already don't have the wave management/jungling etc. of other roles.

Even if you are playing support you should still know wave management.

Ashe has pretty simple mechanics but if someone says that she's braindead is legit trolling.

Low skill floor =/= brain dead.
