Armor pen aatrox is the only aatrox that really works

the explanations all the main sources of aatrox damages come from his auto attack. he can stack has much life steal he wants in the world it would mean nothing against a ADC with third item bloodthister.. alot of other champs get Armor pen for free ( j4, sion E, vi xin zhao) and if they don't their damage is partially magic damage ( jax, ) and if neither they get CRIT, TRUE damage, % health damage ( tryndamere has crit, yi has true damage and alot of other adcs have the others.) so in order to make aatrox work ( in ranked) the best build would be (or , ) because the armor pen helps the botrk remain relevant especially against squishes when they get A ga. you become a assasin which i think is the best role he fits. a Glass cannon that builds defensive items lol

why would you do that. when you can play gangplank or any ranged champion?

I disagree. I feel Aatrox is much better as a dedicated duelist/split pusher. He's not meant to be a full assassin and he does not synergise well with those items. I've play tested all those items on him and out of them all (minus maw and bork which are already common on him), I can only see Trinity Force as a viable niche item if you're going for a burst heavy build. The problem with Youmuu's is that it expects you to stick to your target and constantly land auto's on them which is not always a feasible task seeing as how Aatrox only has a 1 gap closer and a weak slow on a skillshot. Black cleaver gives hp and ad which are nice but the other stats are kind of wasted on Aatrox... trying to stack black cleaver through melee auto-attacks like I said for Youmuu's, is not always a feasible task especially when there's an abundance of cc, mobility and damage threats around.
