Want to know why nothing can ever be balanced in this game?

Because we have Whiners/Complainers and Riot constantly tending to their every need. For example, Riven went through many patches. We still get whiners even though Riven's ok in her current state.

Riot stop making ur self like a mother tending to a spoiled needy child. Make the right decisions that only reasonable people who actually make an reasonable argument about a champion and/or make the right decisions that you know will make things balanced.

Or not balanced yet, because Seeing changes to a champion** EVERY **Patch note(usually including 1 or 2 mostly complained about champions) is really sad to see in my eyes.

Man, shup up. If what you said was true at all, Morde wouldn't be in the state he is on live right now

That you're severely out of touch with how Riot works as a company?

There is no pervect state of balance as long as Humans are different, bugs exist, the game exists, and you exist,

126 champions, 5 per team, no repeats is 2.4422265e+8, or 244,222,650 combinations. 289 items (taken from the forum's convenient item list; this is certainly high), 6 per player, allowing repeats, is 7.68013694e+11, or 768,013,694,000 combinations.

Multiply the two to represent the fact every possible mix of champion can have every possible combination of items and you get 187,566,339,584,969,100,000 combinations of items and champions per team, or 187 sextillion combinations. It just accounts for combinations of items and champions no player would logically pick. But hey, Bronze is a big place... :P

Obviously some combinations will be better than others. It's just math.

Want to know why nothing can ever be balanced in the game? Because we have 120+ champions and almost 300 items. This means there are roughly 190 million possible team combinations and about 940 trillion possible combinations of items any one of those champions can have. If you multiply those two together, there are roughly 170 sextillion (That's 170,000,000,000,000,000,000) combinations of champions and items. And that's just one team.

Obviously some combinations will be better than others. It's just math.

I get the feeling something is severely off about your math...

It's true.

It's true.

Whiners do exist, but to claim that most of the community is to blame for Riot's inability to balance the game perfectly is asinine

Balance is by far the most complex aspect of a MOBA. If you balance it based on the actual capability of champions and how the game should be played, it'd be extremely imbalanced when it comes to how the game is actually played, and that changes even more so from region to region and rank to rank.

Every game like this, even 1v1 fighting games, have tiers of characters:

  1. Technically complex, fragile, high risk high reward, oppressive when played nearly flawlessly, moderate reward when played decently
  2. Tanky, technically complex, oppressive when played flawlessly, smaller reward when played decently.
  3. Balanced all around, fairly predictable, can take a few hits without dying, fairly forgiving but has a few favorable matchups against top tiers.
  4. Easy to play, predictable patterns, decent when mastered but top players will nearly always be able to outplay. (this isn't all of them, just typical examples)

When you mix in items and build paths, runes and masteries, champion synergy, etc., it's impossible to make every champion perfectly balanced, and that was never anyone's intention. Some champions require a lot of knowledge to play well, not just technical skill. Some require more team coordination, some require certain matchups, some are more well-rounded but don't have situations where they faceroll without a significant early lead.

They are looking at a lot of data from a lot of regions, looking at power spikes, win conditions, play patterns, synergies, playstyle trends, so on and so forth. You could have every champion have a 49%-51% win rate and still have a very imbalanced and unhealthy game.

Math's been checked; it was pretty close. I updated the original post to properly reflect things. This is just a rough forum thing, the exact numbers would be lower (accounting for the fact not all items are in all game modes, some items are exclusive to one champion, etc).

Nearly impossible to achieve balance in a game that has

  1. RNG
  2. Item variation
  3. Skills/attacks that aren't locked on or 100% hit accuracy

League has all 3, not to mention the factor of the player, their computer, their internet, etc.

Based on champion kits alone. Sometimes they don't go with a middle ground for example.. they didn't try only removing have of j4's E passive armor. Another reason is that by nerfing one champion another champion get's higher in power due to their counters getting nerfed and when they buff those counters again, the other champ falls out of favor. It's just a stupid nerf buff cycle. Honestly I wish everything was just equally broken in the game, then people could whine and bitch but their champs would be broken as well.
