@Meddler: As long as we're talking about "clear identities", what about Irelia?

Seems like she has NO clear identity. She's just a mashup of various fighter capabilities, and does nothing that someone else can't beat her at in at least one way. Sustain? Aatrox and Tryndamere beat her. True damage? Darius. Mobility? Lee Sin. Waveclear/pushing? GP. You get the idea.

Irelia's identity as the "psychic blade manipulator" is simply not utilized in her kit. Any plans to address that? I'd certainly love to see something along the lines of the Blazblue Murakumo Units.

She is nowhere near as mobile as Lee Sin and does nowhere near as much true damage as Darius. They are barely parts of her identity.

In my opinion her identity is "relentless". She's tanky, has very high sustained damage, very high in-combat sustain (one of the highest, next to Aatrox and Xin Zhao), and most importantly, shrugs off CC. She'll come after you and see to it that you're dead.

This is actually a very, very good way to put it, and that is how I want her to stay after her eventual rework.

Her re-positioning via Q, not the mobility, is what stands out most about her gameplay to me.

As long as she has that overall relentless feel and her Q, idc what happens to her especially if it means she gets more emphasis on her blades. I don't even care if she loses her hard CC or damage.

That said, rework is a long, long time away. At least more than a year or two.

Can't really call her ult part of that "relentless" setup, considering how out-of-place it is on her kit.

Personally I don't think it's that out of place.

It's one of those things that's insanely hard to recognise when you play against it but good Irelia's always keep their ult in mind. It synergiezes well with her Q and allows Irelia to proc her sheen multiple times.

I think her ult's just one of those things where you really need to play as Irelia to really understand how it works with the rest of her kit.

My guess would be that Riot haven't really considered it yet.

There was some talk a while ago about a dive fighter group rework, which should give champions like Irelia (possibly. Duelists and dive fighters seem to be very similar) clear identities.

Mages are coming first. Assassins may come later, or perhaps dive fighters. Who knows?
