I'm not really sure why play maker champs get tuned so highly.

Youd think with a outplay/playmaker kit, your stats would be reduced to compensate for your mechanical superiority over 95% of the champ pool.

But nah I guess.

He has among if not the worst base AD and HP of any melee champion in the game, and almost no base damages in his kit.

Try to let go of your bias for a minute and realize that he does have lower tuned stats than his peers.

passive shield = health. Passive double crit = AD. Passive armor penn = AD.

You cant fool me.

His passive double crit requires him to build two items, as does his passive armour pen (which is only useable with his ult, an active ability), his shield lasts for a whopping one second. None of these things help him in laning phase except the shield, while laning is the most important phase of the game. Two of those things are steroids, which literally every ADC and melee carry have. Notice that Tryndamere has several steroids as well, while having better base stats than Yasuo, due to having less outplay.

Try harder.

And his permadash. So fun trying to use skillshots against a champs that uses 5 dashes per minion wave.

He can theorically use 6 dash per wave, but most Yasuos players are monkeys, so they rarely use the spamming dash to the máximum.

Also, you want to counterargument me saying that Yasuo has even more dashes tan I said? XD

NCBuckets24 votes

2 items. what a struggle.

MooooooooreDakka6 votes

Pardon me if I'm mistaken but isn't two items= late game the main complaint about basically all crit ADCs? This suggests to me that the problem might lie in itemization rather than Yasuo's interaction with crit.

Provengreil1 votes

it's kinda both IMO. however, yasuo is melee and cannot use the RFC/shiv combo, which itself is two passives that ought to be exclusive triggering at the same time, and critting to cap it off.

if I were in charge, my first move would probably be to explore hard-capping crit chance and letting yasuo's passive exceed it (like it or not, he IS designed around that extra crit, and would need a lot of changes if he lost it)

Adrian is Daddy1 votes

You do realise that yasuo always goes as runes and his q's cooldown is Reliant on his attack speed which means in a normal trade he gets to aa q cast alot more then most champions would.

Which is what makes his level 1 and 2 so strong, combined with his shield. At level 3 champions have two or three abilities that have base damages that can seriously punish Yasuo so he's less strong.

true

Sion that only happens if there is counterplay to the playmaking kit

Well..mechanical superiority but to be fair, the champion does not = the player's mechanical superiority all the time.

First of all, that build is horrible. The passive shield gone with a ranged spit? Yeah. The blood thirster he gets as his 3rd/4th item 25-28 minutes into the game when games end in 15-20 minutes? Yeah. No Yasuo will ever build Deaths Dance competently, There are better options + Deaths dance gives the unique passive of 30% of damage taken as DAMAGE OVER TIME not damage reduction. Overheal? Is this a joke? Wind wall? You can play around it, Especially the Meta mid laners currently.

Yasuo lost A LOT of his damage with the loss of Fervor of Battle keystone, The 20+ damage is only going to get back a BIT of his damage back before the preseason update.

It's not totally stupid as a full build. You've got your 100% crit chance, running 43% lifesteal, up to 53 if maw ever procs, means that your going to be charging both BT passive and overheal reliably early in the fight, possibly even later if your passive comes up at an appropriate time, so unless you get cc locked and burst down (which merc treads and maw help to prevent) you can sustain through most damage. It's probably not as good early on as most typical builds (mallet builds are kind of silly mid game between damage, survivability, and stick), but once built is probably better due to the sheer burst potential against squishies and being able to stat check champions who build more survivability.

FIRST OF ALL: you're missing major points and you cannot even find actual better items to put into the build, We should know about what kind of team composition the Yasuo player is going to against.

The few MAJOR points you're missing about Yasuo's 100% CRITICAL CHANCE & his damage are the following:

  • Steel Tempest has a hidden crit penalty that reduces all crits by by a further 15% from the normal 10% penalty, which means Steel Tempest crits only hit for 75% of the usual damage, and only crits on the AD portion (The bonus damage is added on unchanged regardless of whether it crit or not). To clarify, Yasuo has a hidden critical strike penalty on his Auto attack which is 10% and another hidden critical strike penalty on Steel tempest that is 25%

  • Because of the hidden critical strike penalties that reduce the critical strikes damage: After 333 AD (or 267 AD if Yasuo has purchased Infinity Edge) critically striking basic attacks will do more damage than critically striking Steel Tempest due to the 25% damage penalty.

  • If you hit three targets with Steel Tempest, only the first target is going to receive the critical damage & on-hit effects!

You're still going to get burst down no matter what with this utterly trash build because there's not even one high HP item, Frozen Mallet, Trinity force ARE better OFFENSIVE & DEFENSIVE HYBRID items.

This build is not even effective against a FULL AP team composition either, You're really underestimating the damage in the game, everyone knows how high damage has been in the game ever since PRESEASON 6.

''Unless you get cc'ed & locked''

This sentence alone is enough for the Yasuo player to get nuked immediately by your logic. Maw of malmortius & Mercury Threads are good items but they aren't enough to keep the Yasuo alive.

Every single champion in the game will get nuked the moment they are locked down by a CC INCLUDING tanks except for certain champions who have great defensive capabilities not from ITEMS but from their KITS like Warwick's primal howl which has increased damage reduction from each point put into the ability scaling this way DAMAGE REDUCTION: 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 55% or Sejuani's Fury of the North passive that gives her slow immunity along with 20 / 70 / 120 (+ 100% total armor) bonus armor and 20 / 70 / 120 (+ 100% total magic resistance) bonus magic resistance that makes it very hard to lock down a player who knows what he is doing with Sejuani.

It's probably not as good early on as most typical builds (mallet builds are kind of silly mid game between damage, survivability, and stick), but once built is probably better due to the sheer burst potential against squishies and being able to stat check champions who build more survivability.

First of all this is very WRONG.

  • Maw of Malmortius along with mercury threads as the first two items to be bought from the shop while you're playing Yasuo should only happen when you're against Malzahar or Annie, otherwise you're better off rushing Phantom Dancer into a Mercury threads into an IE into Frozen Mallet/Trinity Force/GA/Blood Thirster whatever suits the Yasuo's player play-style while countering the given circumstances around the player.

  • The build that was proposed is really bad to the point the player is better off picking a completely different character against an AP mid laner I assume because of the MR in that build that takes up item slots which would otherwise have helped against the real threat in this current Meta which are Attack Damage Carries who are melting everyone which doesn't have special defensive capabilities that you do not get from items but only from a champion's kit itself.

  • Frozen Mallet builds around mid game poses the highest threat on Yasuo not the other way around, The defensive capability of the item is amazing, 700 HP (which is almost on par with Warmog's Armor's 800 HP) 30 attack damage with the most important part of the item, The unique passive which makes the item the most dangerous, CC & Utility: currently in the game is the most valuable thing you can offer to your team (To your enemies too with pleasure) since damage is high & has been ever since preseason 6.

Kassadin is specifically made to do well against AP and lack power against everyone else.

Also, unlike yasuo, his mobility has a resource which increases DRASTICALLY the more he uses it (up to 800 mana for one jump)

Yet another one that doesn't get it. A champion could have more counterplay than all other champions combined and still make people want to uninstall based on a bullshit kit.

No, understood that, you just didn't answer my question about why. I simply don't understand what's so frustrating, and instead of answering my question people would rather down vote me

Lauchmelder1 votes

Playing around his entire kit needs you to put in way, WAAAY more effort than on other champions.

First you have to destroy his passive shield, then you have to land a skillshot on the E-spamming ass, THEN you still need to bait out his windwall. Meanwhile he can just engage on you whenever the fuck he wants as long as there's an ally minion nearby and kill you with his double crit chance.

And god forbid he lands a tornado on you under your own tower, he'll ult and get placed outside of tower range, just as an extra FU gift from the devs.

And I didn't even account for his Hexdrinker and 'Nullifying Orb' here.

Lunar Lunacy1 votes

Okay, fair enough, however his gameplay is also very linear and predictable, at least you know he's going to be doing those things and can prepare for it is all I was getting at.

Alright let's look at this objectively.

first back yasuo can go either lifesteal or zeal.

so about 6 minutes he will have item 3086 or item 3144 or item 3155

When laning phase is over he won't have all those items IN laning phase. That's the problem with you yasuo haters and I'm tired of people QQing about yasuo. It's annoying. Let riot buff him and ban him in champ select. It's not that hard.
