@Riot: If the tech were available, would you make a Champion who plays like Abathur in HotS?

Abathur

Abathur's probably the most unique hero I've seen in a MOBA. He doesn't directly fight, and instead manipulates the entire battlefield to benefit his team. He can apply plenty of subtle lane pressure, shield and buff allies from anywhere on the map, and requires an entirely different mindset to play.

League presently has no Champion who comes remotely close to this, but I think adding an "Abathur" into the game could really break the mold. I assume Riot doesn't have the tech to add someone like him into the game, but if they did, would they want to?

I personally hate playing against abathur due to how uninteractive he is if you don't have a reliable way to get ontop of him and it would be even worse in league

Riot would never (intentionally) make a champion designed to be purely uninteractive.

I always found his design pretty boring. As far as empowering champions goes, I would say something serious like IO or meme-y like pocket riki are far more interesting.

Also, I think i've seen some stuff like this on concepts and creation boards. I think they would be better for discussing new ideas, gameplay is more focused on balancing current heroes.

Abathur just wouldn't work in League. And honestly, I can't even count how many factors would have to be taken into account if someone like him was in league. Global range farming, supporting more than one lane, ability impact on team, ability impact on the enemy jungler (assuming the landmines are taken account), and that's just what I'm thinking of right now.

Abathur works in HOTS because Blizzard's took the fundamentals of most Mobas, and completely ignore them to go beyond it. Just imagine if the Lost Vikings were in lol.

"He doesn't directly fight, and instead manipulates the entire battlefield to benefit his team. "

League actually has someone like that, but not exactly filling in the "benefiting his team" portion of the description; however, "doesn't directly fight" and "manipulates the entire battlefield"? Oh you bet!

You can be that right now if you want.

Just afk and verbally abuse your team in chat. You will feel like the god of the rift, controlling its outcome with an undisputed might of authority, while keeping yourself away from puny mortal combats as you focus on reshaping the rift to a true expression of yourself and your power.
