AFK's in placements and how they effect your rank

I was wondering if riot concider the idea of making AFK games impact your MMR less. I just did my placements and I had 3 games that we effectly lost because of our teammates when AFK in a crucial moment or just didn't connect to the game add all. In both 3 cases whe had a hugh lead that even in lower brackets of play couldn't have another outcome. Their was even a 4th game. Yeah you heard it, 4 of the 10 of my placements where a 4v5. But we won that one with four S ranks. It felt their was a MMR differents on that one. The other 2 games where special cases. In the first one their was a smurf on the enemy team. He wanted to help his friend with his promo's. The second one I just lost, we can't win all games can't we.

Still having an AFK in 4 of your 10 placements games feels kinda unfair to me. You could say it would happen on the enemy team too but it didn't. Bad karma I guess. I would probally end up a rank or 2 higher if it wasn't for these unfortunate events. I don't really care about the rank if I get eventually to the rank I belong. But that's what I actually find troubling. It's not that you can get to this rank in a hour or 2. It will probaly take you about 10-20 games to get their. Games that could be prevented if these afk's didn't interfere with my rank.

Whatever the statics are on afk's. This is the second time I had this problem in my placements. Last year I even had an 4v5 in even 6 of my 10 games.

Honnestly I think afk's are an really unhealthy event in league. Not only it impact the MMR for it's victims. It's also raises the MMR of the guys that benefit from this event.

I would like to see a system where the duration of afk's counted. Than it calculates the percentage it was on the game time. For example:

Example 1

  • Yasuo didn't connect to the game (so he was afk for 20 minutes = 1200 seconds)
  • The game lasted 20 minutes
  • Formula: (1200/5)/1200 = 20%
  • So both the winning as the losing team will win or lose 20% less MMR.

Example 2

  • Yasuo didn't connect to the game (so he was afk for 8 minutes = 480 seconds)
  • The game lasted 20 minutes
  • Formula: (480/5)/1200 = 0,08%
  • So both the winning as the losing team will win or lose 0,08% less MMR.

A system like this won't prevent the cases where someone ragequits. But in scenario's where they just don't reconnect to the game add all it really can help.

This seems, at least, like a great minor fix.

Is it perfect? No, but still a solution.
