So support players, give me, the Abusive Top Lane player a reason why you don't have a sightstone.

Toastersaot··84 votes·5,533 views

Every time a Top Laner hears "Enemy Double Kill" from the bot lane at 7 minutes in, we die a little bit on the inside. This is usually because we are completely not at blame, and could have probably done nothing at that point.

After that, the poor, abused support main decides, "Hey! I'm not doing enough damage! I'm going with a Needlessly (note NEEDLESS) Large Rod. Then bot lane continues to feed.

I am sick and tired of support players refusing to buy Sightstone. ESPECIALLY when you're behind.

If your behind enough, the enemy would be trying to tower dive you. If they dive you, having more damage is not going to help that much. But maybe having VISION of the Goon Squad coming for you will tell you, "Oh Sh*t! Fizz, Hecarim, and there hyper fed Lucian are coming to dive us! We better run!"

I've been rambling, but please buy a Sightstone by the time of your second back. Supports have such low income already Sightstone is actually a really good way to fill a slot on your item chart.

Let the Abused Support Playerbase Downvotes commence.

Also, if you do buy a Sightstone as a support, I will love you forever. I love it, as a top Laner, whenever my bot lane is properly warded, scaling up to be my backline. I love it when the enemy comes up top for me and you guys get dragon and bot tower. Thanks to all the good support players.

I still want to report the bad ones though.

its not even bad to do so if ur playing a tank the item gives 500 hp and reduces item actives so it would work well with a randuins or locket maybe even both, it will also let you use zzrot or banner more if you buy them both give decent tanks stats too.

Just saying, in the past junglers used to buy them alot too now they have a jungle item upgrade with wards though

So its totally viable to get one

When the OP triggers support mains hard, you people are like the feminazis of lol, whatever someone says to you, you will act like oppressed bitches, Riot even made that stupid item for you so you can provide better ward coverage, but muh oppression, seriously if I played this game more than once every couple of days I would report every support without a sightstone, now support mains downvote away.

Checking your history reveals that you're a support main(surprise), you felt the need to immediately shift the blame from support players by calling other roles out, that's what I call crying about being oppressed, but subtly, also you saying "you mad bro" immediately tells me I am right because that's the only thing you can say, the same thing when you argue with grammar nazis, and the only thing they do is correct your grammar, then you know you won.

Well sometimes a 4 man gank rolls in so fast that normal ward coverage just doesn't cut it. Plus I can't play for my ADC. They always get mad at me for backing up when they super push a wave. If I think I can save them I try if I know they are toast I don't even bother burning a summoners on them.

And sometimes it just can't be helped. Like when thresh lanterns in a hard engage jungle from behind himself and the bot team comp doesnt have the disengage to get out.

Btw I only make a SS when I can afford full support item. I buy pinks before it though and set up early warning river watches closer to mid/dragon. The SS component just doesn't give me enough presence in lane compared to its counterpart component but I do make sight item first as full item.

I biuld SS as soon as it's relevant. If we are pushed in and I can't leave to safely ward it's a waste of gold. If we're pushed or even I get it ASAP.

If I'm pushed I always put a pink in the bush behind my tower or the tri bush. So many avoided ganks because I could body block/cc the enemy amumu/sej/insert non malphite jungle here as leona. If its malph though you just run like hell and hope you aren't low enough to get murdered :P

If they're buying a NLR as their first item then they aren't a support main, they're a mid/top/jung player that got stuck supporting. If you're going to whine then whine at the people actually doing it.

If they're buying a NLR as their first item then they aren't a support main, they're a mid/top/jung player that got stuck supporting

There is no excuse for this behavior. Why did someone then select Support as a role if they do not wish to play support? Or does this justify me picking mid and ADC and then intentionally picking Taric BECAUSE i don't play anything except supports?

I've seen a lot of people playing Brand support and then doing the same thing because their stun and % HP damage is "not enough" unless they're one shotting people. So you bet your ass they're rushing that Liandry's (3200), Rylai (3200), Sorcerer's Shoes (1100) and Frost Queen's Claim (2200) first.

Since when is 800 > 9700?

Oh, i get it now! If it isn't damage (and you're playing a damage support), then it's not worth the invested gold, is it not? Well, that damage is not worth much if you get killed before you even get to throw it at the enemy, now is it?

I fully support this topic he he..no pun intended. Mainly because support mains are starting to switch places with ADC mains. Where all the adc wants to do is safe farm untill he hits level six or gets a solid opening but than you got these support leonas and Sona who just go god tier ham level 1 and 2 , infront of a giant minion wave, die to castors, give first blood and than go.

"gg, dumb ass adc doesn't go in" than proceeds to never buy or place a single ward and repeat this process about four times untill they go "afk" and actually afk.

I remember a year ago it use to be the other way around.

What fucking support mains arnt supporting? This is some bad shitposting.

If a support main isnt SUPPORTING then they dont MAIN support. Take your random support bashing attempt and rethink it, as it deconstructs itself in the first sentence. A support MAIN isnt picking up minion agro, that would be something an experienced support would avoid.

PSA: If the ADC wards, like, ever, bot can be warded with ~85% uptime (assuming Scuttle is taken, 100% uptime) with no sightstone. If a botlane is behind, both the ADC and the support need to build an MR or Armor item. The LAST thing a support wants in this situation is a Sightstone, as that only helps you if you're playing aggressively and need to avoid being flanked. A botlane duo properly freezing can go completely ward-free except in fringe cases, like Aurelion Sol or Shaco ganks. Therefore, if a botlane is behind AND needs a sightstone, they're already digging their own grave by playing too aggressively. If they're playing properly, a sightstone is just going to worsen the STAT deficit between the laners; Sightstone suffers a lot for its active, so buying one while playing from behind is the last thing a good support wants to do. .. Fuck it, I'm going to make a post.

If the ADC, the primary source of damage in teamfights, rushed an ARMOR item, that's a problem. I can recognize the power of Hexdrinker as a valuable item if behind, but if you build item 1031 You're going to be doing NO damage. The most IMPORTANT part of being an Attack DAMAGE Carry.

Also, your assuming that the Support always Wards, ADC never does it, with the statement "If the ADC wards, like, ever" .

I have seen cases where the SUPPORT is the one not using his/her trinket early game.

Another reason why Supports obtain Sightstone is so there is enough vision bottom lane for the ADC to get item 3363 , a way to scout objectives, the jungle, and reveal enemy movements around the map. It also helps with the possibility of a Dragon or Baron steal, since so many ADC have long range ults with decent burst damage (Examples: Draven Ezreal Jinx Jhin )

hi im minty6 votes

I think it's extra annoying when the top laner rages at me the entire game because I didn't build sightstone. Riot gave us wards for a reason and you can always buy pinks. My job is to SUPPORT and I can choose whether or not to build a specific item, specially with my limited amount of gold. I don't flame our top laner Garen when he builds spirit visage against an all AD team and I don't flame a Teemo when he decides to go full AD. So why flame me as a support when I decide not to build sightstone as a Lux?

With that being said, I do think that sightstone is a very important item but it's equally important that you stay positive and support your team.

Elikain1 votes

What blasphemy is this?

So why flame me as a support when I decide not to build sightstone as a Lux?

I'm surprised that you think that a gold generation item is a more mandatory purchase on Lux than a Sightstone. By not buying a Sightstone, your team lacks in the vision department and that is YOUR job to provide. Outside of a few jungle picks that can make use of a Sightstone (Lee, Nunu and Rek'Sai), even if they decide to buy one, you don't get to skip yours.

Even if pinks exist, they serve as vision denial tools on parts of the map you control and not as an excuse for you not to buy a Sightstone. Even if everyone has a warding totem on their own, it's still not your place to refuse buying a Sightstone. That's a support's mandatory item purchase that you cannot dispute in any given case. More vision has never hurt anyone, less vision is always hurtful.

You have 2 mandatory items a a support - gold gen item (because you're not taking CS) and a Sightstone. This is non negotiable. You can save up a slot and some gold by choosing to combine a gold gen item and a Sightstone into an Eye item. You're being a bad support if you don't buy one or both of these items and you're opening yourself up to a valid report. Because you've chosen to play in the support role but you're refusing to play support. Don't be a liability to your team.

You can build your support however you want with the exception of 2 items - gold gen item and a Sightstone. And depending on your choice of these items, you have 4 or 5 available item slots to itemize however you want.

hi im minty1 votes

Did you read the rest of my comment or were you too busy telling me what I HAVE to do, according to you?

Elikain1 votes

"According to my ELO" would be a more appropriate statement. I am a Diamond support main so you'd be wise not to dismiss my arguments so swiftly.

Knowing when and what to buy is equally important than simply thinking that purchase order doesn't mean a thing. The point is that it's not not a fixed order and that it depends on a game to game basis but there are still items that have a much higher value when purchased early, like upgrading a gold gen item and purchasing a Sightstone.

Hinagiku331 votes

*Oooor...*maybe you can use your damn Trinket wards to help out?

"Blah blah, you are support, blah blah, vision is your job, blah blah"

I guess you don't read the patch notes, but vision is EVERYONE'S job. All five players on the team are supposed to be placing wards. Even with Sightstone, the support can only have 3 out at once.

"non negotiable"

Considering Riot doesn't forcibly take gold from players that lock in as Support and plop SS into their inventory, that makes it entirely negotiable. Yes, vision is important - very, very important - but so are other things, like item 3105 item 3504 item 3174 item 3222 item 3050 item 3512 . Plus item 3158 item 3117 item 3009 . Plus they need to upgrade their item 3301 item 3092 item 3302 in order to have enough gold for anything at all. All while also buying item 2043 . All while also having the lowest gold income in the game.

Yes, item 2049 is a valuable tool and Supports should get it when they can. But different Supports also scale super hard with different utility items and many need to rush those items to be useful to their carries. Depending on how a game is going, builds change. If you aren't reacting to all of my item 3340 wards...why would I expect you to suddenly start responding to item 2049 wards?

To summarize: If I am playing Support and delay Sightstone for other utility items, it could just be that I am building reactively to how well my carry is doing and how the enemy team is playing. Wards mean nothing if my carry NEEDS the MR from item 3105 to survive right now. As long as I am placing Trinket Wards and building Pink Wards, to protecting my carry, and building utility items to help the team, then lay off and make sure you place your own Trinket wards before you criticize me.

Elikain1 votes

If your carry needs MR, then he needs to itemize MR because 10 - 15 MR from you is nothing. Legion or Solari is something that gives additional MR but on it's own, it's a very low amount and does not prevent deaths due to excessive magic damage.

Considering that 2nd tier gold gen items don't have boosted gold gen effects at final tier (except the unique item effects), you do not need to rush their completion and skip a Sightstone. Unless you absolutely need the effects, this is not an excuse. There's a limit of 2 Pinks in an inventory of any champion so you can't use this as an excuse either. You never rush Legion or Solari either.

You don't have to rush a Sightstone as a first purchase but you can't leave it as a third either. The most delay you can allow yourself is finishing a 2nd tier gold gen item, buying basic boots and then going for a Sightstone.

Sightstone doesn't scale with any support champions in terms of stats. If you're talking about HP, any champion in the bot lane can appreciate the stat all the same and Wards are the main reason why you're required to buy it. Season 4 shifted all the warding burden off the support to the team BUT a support is still the main champion to set the most wards in the game. Warding Totem has less charges and a long downtime so it's not a replacement to a Sightstone.

If I am playing Support and delay Sightstone for other utility items, it could just be that I am building reactively

This is where you're wrong. Supports play reactively very differently than the rest of the roles. Mainly because you're a support that's your team's utility and in order for you to be the most useful, you itemize in a direction where you can provide such utility most of the time. You cannot buy your team damage, resistances and magic/armor pen items, they have to buy that. As they can't buy utility that you're supposed to provide - like a Sightstone.

then lay off and make sure you place your own Trinket wards before you criticize me.

You're getting very pissy all of a sudden. I'm not your average carry complaining about a support's habits, i'm a dedicated support main that's in Diamond. My favorite trinket is Oracle's Lens and i know what i'm talking about when it comes to supports.

actually mid should be placing the sight stones along the river around there lane , and as far as warding goes everyone can help. As a support I'm tired of people complaining that the entire map isnt covered and shaco just ganked you. Well I'm sorry folks you realize your pretty much gonna get that because thats how his kit is made. Stop blameing supports for stupid things that they may over see and if they do over see it dont rage at them that they should get it. if i go back and get what i need and have the extra coin (cause god forbid mid game i have ten cs) ill grab a sight stone or anything to help the team. You should probably get in on the Why rage forum listed just a few above this.

Yeah, but hes level 28, it will be a while before he plays with people that know enough about the game to take advantage of additional information such as map vision.

NicolasTr Im not saying you're dumb, but in a match with more experienced players, the vision (along with a sweeper to hurt enemy vision) is an important tool that cant be fully utilized without additional wards from a sight stone. Until then thinking that trinkets cover it completely is a bit ignorant.
