What are some melee champions that can duel with Yorick?

Elohaven··1 votes·1,509 views

It's easy to beat him with ranged champions like Teemo, Quinn, etc.

But when you get into the melee champions - it becomes an issue. Why? It's basically a 5v1 in top-lane with his 3 ghouls and ultimate. Yes, you can deny him CS, farm, etc. but it really gets tricky there. Yorick is a pretty good champion to counterpick against toplaners other than Swain. Any suggestions?

Wrong 2x. I'm a dedicated Cho'Gath main and he completely shits on me every time. His passive can't do anything when there are 3 other zombies/mistwalkers/whateverthefuckthey'recallednow beating him to death. His only option is to run (just like what people did with the old yorick. wow so much counterplay, right?). ALSO, unlike Old Yorick, the new one's ghouls rarely happen to be in the same place at once. They're usually all split up, so wave clear can't help him. Also, Yorick's W and E are outside of Cho'Gath's silence range, and his Q is a basic attack modifier, which can still be used even if he's silenced, just as long as it's activated before the actual silence. Also, how does true damage do good against Yorick? Unlike before, he doesn't have any % damage reduction, so true damage is even LESS effective on him than it used to be.

he cant do damage or cast ghouls or spells if he is silenced... yorick pushes the wave,... always has still do... cho pushes the wave back...

maybe you were vs better yorick players then you are a cho player...

its a stalemate.. it don't win either way... but sometimes that is good enough

Cho'Gath isn't that great at pushing waves early game. He has super high mana costs. Also, as I said before, Yorick's W and E, his main comboing abilities, outrange Cho'Gath's silence, so Cho'Gath can't really stop him from performing that ridiculously unfair combo on him. And it's unlikely that the Yorick player was better at Yorick than I am at Cho'Gath. I've had over 700 games as him.

how does cho not clear waves with his spikes ?

Oh, true. I forgot about that, and there's a reason why. They don't do much damage unless you level them first, which I don't. Late game they help clear a lot more, though.

so leveling them early would help vs yorick...

but your a 700 game main on cho ...

I guess I never just thought of it LOL. I guess all of my skill is just landing Q's really well and farming. I only would level E when I went sated cho in the jungle, but there's no more sated devourer now : (

Tryndamere or Olaf basically anyone who becomes dangerous when they're low health also new Warwick

Not really new warwick, no.

everyone because yorick is trashhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Poppy is probably a hard counter or at least a difficult matchup , if Yorick lands E Poppy can W and it'll kill the ghouls as they jump to her and he loses a lot of dueling power

Elisheva1 votes

Unless he ults.

Literally any of them "Can" but only a few have an easy time with it.

  • Trundle
  • Tryndamere
  • Shen
  • Olaf Are four that I personally hate fighting against on yorick, because of the dodging and healing.

juggernauts aren't really the best against him, since he can take advantage of their immobility with his wall, skirmishers like Fiora Riven Yasuo can deal with him pretty handily, also Rumble is really good for this,

a general tip would be to fight him after he just used his q to prep a minion, and to keep track of his graves to know when he can summon, since he needs to hit you with his e to get his minions to target you, be prepared to dodge if he has 3 or more graves ready. Post 6, try and kill his maiden of the mist, back then fight him again, because she has a ridiculous cooldown, but provides a massive amount of his damage because of his q interaction. He has a decent level 2 if he lands his e, but if he misses you can do a lot to him, he needs time to prep when he is in lane, so early trades tend to go in your favour. Late game, seperate him from his maiden and he is useless

Wind Whistler1 votes

No one can beat him, but he transforms into your bitch late game. Win the lane, lose the game. He's the exact polar opposite of what Old Yorick was.
