What's the point of voice chat if you're making it for premade teams only?

Especially in the current voice application climate?

It's easier than ever to just throw in a discord link in the pre game lobby to have everybody join. Most discord servers either don't care about "random" people joining their server (with at least someone in the server knowing the random) Or their servers are properly managed, having different rights for every role, and a role for random people.

With random people I mean premade who are not actually part of the main friend group of that person, or someone they added and played with before.

However, most people don't really want actual randoms (the people you're matched with) to join their servers and wouldn't throw a discord link in a champ select with 4 people they don't know.

The whole point of voice chat is to be able to have you communicate with random people without any commitments or sharing personal info (discord name with linked steam/gamertag/whatever).

If I'm premade with anyone, I will have them in at least one of my discord servers, making the whole premade voice chat obsolete. And I think this counts for most people.

EDIT: Also in this thread, hormones. What are they and how do they work. Scroll down for more info

What is the point of voice chat in a game filled with preteens with raging hormones? I got cod for that

Voice chat will be avalible only to premades for two reasons:

Reason A: Premades are usually people who've played together before or by IRL friends. Therefore, they will probably make the most use out of it.

Reason B: Riot does not have any way of detecting toxicity trough voice chat. I'm not saying premades are never toxic to eachother, but chances are people will tend to be more hostile towards strangers than to people they know.

We all know the League community. We all know the amount of Uranium-covered conversations that will hapen in voice chat. Just imagine a nice premade group of 4 friends, wanting to play together with their new Star Guardian skins. Everything is fine and dandy, untill a toxic Yasuo/Vayne/Riven/Yi main ends up paired with them. The premades try to be nice, but the toxic player insists they must "tryhard" and peel for him, and take knockup champions and the jungler must gank at level 1, and... Well, you know how those people function. All of the toxiciy you've experienced, all of the death threads, all of the "_I committed sexual intercourse with your parent" _ messeges... All of this will be vocalized in Voice chat.

Long story short, here is a video that perfectly depicts what Voice chat will sound like if it was avalible for the entire team.

I swear, if this happens i will have to play League with a hazmat suit. And i am not being negative. I am just being realistic. Because i know how this community functions. Because i know how most online gaming communities function. If Riot made Voice chat avalible for the entire teams, League will cement its place as the new Chrnobyl disaster.

And i know muting is an option. An option that people forget exists. Because people would rather fight and argue to try and prove they're right, instead of being the bigger person. Instead of walking out of the fire, or trying to extinguish it, people will fuel it.

Those are my thoughts. Enjoy having enemies on both teams.

Voice chat in its entirety never should be a thing in league.

They wanted to add it so they can say they added it, like most other mobas, but made it pre-made only so the people can't complain about toxicity or unfair competitive advantages "/all their team is communicating and mine isn't!!!!"

I'm fine if its there just to be there incase you're playing with somebody who dislikes or doesn't use discord, but I'd never want it to be seen as available in standard random matchmaking. Me and many others would auto-mute that shit and then we'd have an unfair advantage because "lul not paying attention to voice so you died, report".

I don’t want voice chat. All we need is being called autistic and told to kill yourself over voice chat with no chat logs to report.

Wow it's almost like this problem has been solved ever since discord was a thing

It's coming with an update to parties where you don't have to add someone to your friends list to add them to a premade party.

So say you just played a game as mid, and your jungler was perfect. You wouldn't mind playing a few more games with them, but you don't really want to add to friends list and invite them to your private discord. So you just add them to the party, and voila! Instant voice chat

1 ) I have rural internet and can't run any additional web programs while playing League.

2 ) I can't stand most randos typing ans ping spamming! Why would I want to subject myself to the inevitable raging, racism, masturbation sounds, and random ear shattering noises that would ensue?

i don't get it, premades will most likely if not for sure already be communicating vocally through skype discord or what not, what's the point of league voice then?

Zone of Endless2/27/2018, 12:58:30 PM4 votes

They want to probably test it out first before enabling everywhere else.
