BM is part of the game, and making BM a bannable offense shouldn't even be considered.

EDIT:

Before you comment, do remember that the following is an in game loading screen tip:

"Competitive BSing is fine. Hate speech, not so much."

So I'm actually right when I'm saying the BM and competitive BS is 100% fine.

I've seen too many topics about "make saying EZ bannable" or "BM is toxic". I disagree

Honestly, BM is a part of any competitive fighting scene environment. In any other competitive game, fighting games and even real sports like boxing and MMA, BM and trashtalk is just a part of the game and is a strategy. It's not toxic to say "ez" after you kill someone. It's not toxic to type "?" in all chat after the enemy makes a mistake. Saying "nice ult" or "nice leash" isn't toxic. You might be tilting someone with it, but that's a strategy. I want them to get angry and keep on making mistakes. Winning is my goal, and I will use this strategy to accomplish that.

I won't insult anyone. I won't swear. I won't use slurs. I'll just BM a little.

Emotes have been added to be able to BM without needing to type, same thing. Someone dives me and dies? I tip my hat. They 4 man kill me but lose 2 inhibs? I dab on them. Someone misses his ult? I send them a thumbs up or a wp emote.

There is no difference between that and saying "ez", "nice try" or "worth me for 2 inhibs". One of the emotes is even called nice try.

"but you can turn off enemy emotes" You can turn off all chat. You can mute a specific enemy.

If you can't handle a little competativeness BM, you should mute a person or turn off all chat. Don't go crying for bans or reports when a person is only BM'ing.

Tl;dr

BM is not toxic, and you shouldn't ask for BM to be bannable. If you can't take it, mute someone or turn off all chat.

BM is part of the game

No it isn't.

making BM a bannable offense shouldn't even be considered.

Too bad. It's Riot's game, they make the rules and they've chosen to appeal to those that want civil games.

If you can't take it, mute someone or turn off all chat.

If you don't like Riot's rules you can quit.

"But I **want ** to behave badly!"

Do you even realize that sports and competition is about being fair, humble and respectful to your oppnonent? I want to make a strong point here: BM is for kids with no self-esteem. Period.

I read this as "I can't win a game the normal way so I have to BM my opp and hope they tilt."

The funny thins is that people who partake in "BM is funny lul" more often than not are toxic brats, all it takes is for the game to sliiightly tip in the enemy's favor, or for the BMer's team to not meet his expectations and they became tilt-o-central, and that's when the competitive bantering ends.

So, no, you aren't being punished for BMing, you're being punished for what you do after it backfires on you.

Since when is unsportsmanlike conduct good for games?

I don't get it. Playful BM is allowed. I'll throw out a "?" in all chat after a failed dive that gives me a double kill. And when I get one in response it resolves me to play better. I definitely don't report the player who said it.

But if they are going off in all chat about other players being trash, etc, etc, then yes I report them. There's a fine line between playful BM and trash talking.

There's a difference between being competitive and being toxic. You're right, the issue is most people don't know the difference.

I've said "GG EZ", "please do better this lane is boring" or something like that to the enemy team probably around 500-600 times. My account has never even been reprimanded for it.

Haven't way less people been playing in NA these last two years as they've gotten more strict on what is acceptable chat?

I 100% agree with you. Not only is shit talk part of ANY competitive game, but SO MANY pro players talk shit. Look at doublelift. If riot thinks that bm should be bannable then they should fine doublelift every time he says some shit like "easy win" or "they're all bad" like he does all the time. And doublelift is my favourite player too.

Hell ya it is. Thats why they built in BM with taunts and emotes. You cant decide what chat is BM or going too far, though. They cant leave that in the hands of players, or they will continue losing more and more players.
