People: Real talk. How do you guys even manage to get banned?

Player3Th0mas·8/19/2019, 1:27:21 AM·46 votes·19,531 views

For real.

I've played this game since season 3, I've played constantly all these years. I talk a lot in chat, I shittalk my opponents, I shittalk/banter my team, I have discussion when I think my teammates are being idiots and I'll throw around the occasional profanity when playing.

I've never even had a chat restriction, and got consistent honor 5 these past seasons.

I have 3 smurf accounts leveled past 30 on EUW, I have a 30+ smurf on EUNE and I have an NA account.

On my main I kind of watch myself, but I don't on my smurfs. I say what I think, and if that thing is toxic, I still say it. I've never had ANY punishment on those accounts either. I should have been chat restricted on those accounts a long time ago, but it never happened.

All I see on here is people complaining about unfair bans, and about how you get banned if you don't mute all and only say gg. And I'm honestly so confused. If me being toxic for myself isn't enough toxicity to get me a punishment, what the hell are you guys doing?

Perhaps what you think is toxic is not toxic or perhaps the people you played with didn't think it was toxic enough to report you. As long as you are not reported, you can even throw as many slurs and hate speech as you want. No report = no IFS = no problem.

Some people are just lucky to not get banned I got my chat restriction by defending myself and using less profanity than the people insulting me I haven't really directly offended them unless "pepega" is a new ultimate swear word or racial slur

I have since learned that just like in real life, whatever I say CAN and WILL be used against me even if it is a minor thing, so I do not really use chat but rather get my frustration out vocally so my friend that plays with me can hear it, or I just hold it in and get a few more silver strands of hair.

But slowly I am starting to realize that all that frustration over the game that intends to be bad and teams that intend to lose your games is just not worth it, that's why I just play less and less.

I've been chat restricted when I got in a flame war with some people that started to blame me for a game going poorly. I don't think there's much to it besides managing to turn your team against you then saying anything that goes against Summoner's Code. The mass influx of reports and the presence of rule breaking will get you muted easily. Then from there you do it again and you get banned eventually.

The thing is though, I've done the exact same thing multiple times in the past, very spread out, over the course of 4 years without any punishment. I doubt it all of a sudden caught up with me, but rather the punishment system is not particularly great and I managed to trip it that one time. I'm sure you're bound to do the same thing eventually.

People others to k*ll themselves, and they don't get banned.

I say "Hey can you ward drake ty <3" - then - "Hey ward dragon please just drop a ward mate?" - then - "DUDE WARD THE DRAGON YOU'RE LITERALLY WALKING PAST IT" - Permaban

Yes I'm kinda aggressive, but I don't tell people to get executed by the fucking Taliban wtf? And yet, those people keep playing, no punishments.

So yeah, that's why I get banned.

get at least 2 trolls in every rank you play, there will stack a lot of bannable chat messages like "dude wtf" "why are you trolling" "are you braindead?" "report x" and so on, riot kind of allow only when someone insult your mom in native language and things like that, not acutal facts about your allies that may be confused with insults, but in the context they are more than true.

overpoweredscrub8/19/2019, 12:26:02 PM3 votes

You're just lucky probably. I do know in higher ranked games around diamond plus, no one reports people anymore for talking shit unless they are playing bad or unusual. If you never play ranked and stay stuck in normals with a bunch of unranks, bronze, silver players... Oh wait and iron cuz now iron is added. Anyway if you play with these players who are extremely toxic and report you all the time, you can get in trouble for the smallest thing like saying "you suck". It's about how often you get reported, and then how severe but as you can see, if you can get permabanned for saying "you suck" then as long as you get reported often and are just mildly toxic then you can get permabanned. I can say this because I've been permabanned a couple times. I know the best way to not get banned is just to never type in chat and just mute all. I just have fun talking smack because enemy is always cocky and talks smack.

I got chat restriction once for explaining how to play the game, automatic system considered as trolling and unacceptable behaviour ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

DapaSquid8/19/2019, 8:03:57 AM3 votes

On my main account I have said plenty that should have resulted in a ban Never ever resulted in a ban. Been playing since season 1.

But did get 1 restriction though, happened last season.

I was jungle and I had a supp blitz follow me around and take my camps from level 1. I never instagated anything, he just decided I was his victim. I replied to his actions with a simple "Blitz, what the actual fuck is wrong with you?" Said nothing else, basicly went half afk for the remainder on the game cause It just was not worth my time quite frankly.

Game finished, got the ban notification with the chat log with me just saying what I said. No other game was listed, just that one.

From then on Riot lost itself a customer permanently. Plain and simple.

Wanna know the fastest way to a chat restriction? Be passive aggressive as fuck. Not kidding.

I got chat restrictions for just "triggering" trolls, feeders (usually just botlane going 0/6 by minute 10), enemy players for making the dumbest plays. I have never said homophobic, racist, sexist shit in the chat. And the highest restrictions I got the past few seasons were 10 game chat restrictions.

Jungler fucked up baron smite? "wp I knew something like that would happen after such a good early game." Shit like this will get you restricted/banned. Got the restrictions when I lost plat promos 4 times in a row lol. Being the reason that someone else is triggered will make SURE that you get reported. They will remember the guy talking shit in chat all day even if you just defend yourself.

People here telling you "you just have to get enough reports, etc etc" it doesn't work exactly like that. Black listed shit (like the n-word), passive aggressiveness, grieving(that is actually quiet high) AND the most important one: People who report you by a support ticket. I got a lot of people 14 days banned like that.

As I said, I am NEVER "14 days-level toxic." Even a toxic fuck like me has his limits. But I am really good at getting chat restrictions, almost challenger

MentalHangukJg8/19/2019, 11:59:07 AM3 votes

Make new account. Play jungle. Jungle only.

See for yourself how long you survive the ban system.

Jennifer4208/19/2019, 1:07:45 PM3 votes

hey there. playing since season 2, in season 6-7 i got 4 permabans, since then i have this account here finally under control.

if just half of what you said you do is true, you should be banned aswell.

all my prior punishements came from me arguing with teammates that what they do was just dumb. i never called other players dumb, just them doing stuff like trying to 1v1 the 7/0 renekton for the 8th time while they are 0/7 IN LESS THAN 15min. (literally them dying under renektons tower)

i refused to just let it go, i wanted to have them admit that im correct and their decision is just dumb. again i never insulted anyone directly, never wished anyone any desease or told them to end their lifes. i just kept arguing whenever i was recalling/running to lane/dead (i never used chat while in lanephase or fighting. i always pressed esc to insta close an enemy asap. and yes i can type with my eyes being on the screen not on the keyboard)

it always surprised me myself that i got banned for that.

honestly i still cant imagine these people not being trolls. i mean if you 1v1 at least 6 times and lose every time, shouldnt you learn that its getting more and more unlikely that you win a 1v1? but i FINALLY adapted the mindset of "just shut up, your teammates are apes and they dont know better and dont understand you".

i changed my ways of "stop trying to 1v1 him, cant you see its just a stupid idea that doesnt work???" to "i think you shouldnt fight him anymore and just try to farm and let fed lane of ours carry"

and i stopped arguing. whatever they answer (usually the typical fuck you noob i do what i want) i just mute them and focus on my game. none of my chatlogs fits in the ones i read on this board for years now, but they are huge. arguing does also get you banned.

(also i feel like since im the one trying to talk with teammates, i get reported more often. it really feels like there are people that are toxic but noone reports them as it doesnt bother them because its directed towards enemys or idk)

well thats how i got banned and what i learned. hope that gives some help? or insight? ps: god bless the ping and chat mute feature. its so good.

pps: the only thing that triggers me now is people that clearly know how to avoid the system. if they realize their pingspam/flame isnt doing anything cause i muted them, they just leave their lane and follow me around in jungle and try to steal my camps. i dont say anything, but that really pisses me off. especially cause these people NEVER get banned. just never.

Iron Phantom8/19/2019, 4:45:58 PM3 votes

I've played since mid s2, and I have not received any form of punishment, and let me tell you I've had a good few arguments with people in chat. It honestly baffles me how some people manage to get constantly chat restricted/banned.

Kegan Arto8/20/2019, 7:24:46 AM3 votes

Premades deciding they don't like you.

I got an account permabanned like 2 or 3 years ago, every time I got a punishment it was right after playing with a premade of 3-4 players. The one I got permabanned over was the worst league of legends experience I have ever had to this day. It was so bad I quit league for at least a year.

Before u send me to downvote hell I'm not saying I was a perfect snowflake that did no wrong, I'm just saying premades have the power to get u punished over a single game.

I will tell the story of the game that got me permabanned though

I matched with a 4 man premade in draft. my 2 lanes were mid and top and I got mid that game, the premade wanted me to give up mid and be the jungler and I said no. They raised hell. They had their jungle lock in a mid laner with ignite anyway. I was last pick so instead of fighting for the mid lane so I went ahead and went jungle. They didn't leash for me which I expected, but they went further. I started Blue (I was Sejuani) and my bot lane went and took my red buff, but they didn't stop there, they took the entire red side of the jungle. After that they kept telling the enemy team in all chat where I was at all times, continued taking every jungle camp and if I went to a lane to try to get xp and some gold that way the laner would walk back and tell the enemy laner they wont stop them from killing me. So I was severely underleveled (I just hit lv 6 at 20 mins) and didn't even have a complete jungle item. They of course refused to surrender and I could do little more than sit in the base so I didnt die. If I walked out of the fountain they told the enemy team where I was so they would come kill me and I couldn't get any jungle camps because my team and the enemy jungler were taking them all.

when the game finally ended the entire premade as well as most of the enemy team who decided to join in on the trolling decided to report me and I got permabanned about 30 seconds after that game ended. And the worst part is that I still honestly believe to this day that if I just straight up left the game I wouldn't have gotten permabanned over it.

Now I was super pissed off that game and I did throw insults and I did rage so the report wasn't baseless, I absolutely did break the summoners code that game by a country mile. I'm not at all saying I didn't deserve the permaban.

My main issue is that I reported all of them because what they did was one of the most severe cases of breaking the summoners code I've ever seen and they got nothing. I made another account right after and friended them all and they were still playing every day and never got banned for that. I can only assume that they have done what they did to me to several other players as well and from what happened when I reported them I can bet they are still around doing that to this day.

Riot says they can skip chat restrictions and go straight to permabanning accounts for extreme violations, I can't imagine something much more extreme than what they did to me that game and they didn't even get a 14 day ban or a chat restriction.

I still think there should be an option to never get matched with a premade in norms, I have no issues with duos, but 3+ premade groups I have only had negative experiences with.

Buttastic Man8/19/2019, 1:05:25 PM2 votes

Basically it's all about how fortunate(or I guess unfortunate in this case) you are. I've known people to get banned over simply asking someone why they didn't do x or y and the occasional bad game. Bans, like most of matchmaking, can be a coin flip once you do get that ban, it could be a small slap on the wrist for something big or small or it could be a permanent ban for something miniscule.

You can get away with saying the trigger words as long as you're not spamming them and the same goes with being toxic and throwing banter around. As for me, the only ban I've ever gotten was a perma ban on my main account like 2 or 3 years ago when I called someone out for being overly toxic and got hit with a perma for apparently playing ap trundle and yasuo back to back in One for All and the chat logs I was sent were of me calling that person out, which might I add, were not even in the same game lol.

Terozu8/19/2019, 4:39:41 PM2 votes

Same amount of playing.

I got punished because someone didn't like my Support pick in ranked and inted, then blamed me for it. I got swept up and flamed the jack even knowing I shouldn't have.(was on a loss streak and he was the straw that broke my back)

  1. Call them a (fucking) r%%%%% / r%%%%%ed / cancer / moron / trash / garbage / idiot / any keyword picked up by the chatbot, preferably repeatedly.
  2. Say stuff like "Boosted piece of shit. Why the fuck do you play this game?"
  3. Type in all chat about how bad that r%%%%% is at this game and should be banned.
  4. Get reported by 5 people.
  5. Get chat restricted.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5.

Edit: Also lmao at how ret*rd is filtered but 'fucking' is totally fine. Soyboy culture at its finest.

I've got a 10 game chat restriction once for only calling people on my team"Dumb" and "Stupid"(Which I don't think is that severe but thats another topic) In response to them bantering me. All 4 of them targetted me so my guess it was some premades and they all reported me after game. and thats how i got it. You can be toxic and get away with punishments aslong as you don't get targetted by premades. In that case trust me, you are screwed.

BlackEyesBlue8/19/2019, 6:42:07 PM2 votes

I've had 13 chat bans and the worst thing I've ever called someone was "moron".

Rito's idea of toxicity in game is pathetic. People can ruin 100+ games for there team with no consequence. Hurt someone's feelings with "negative words" however? Here comes the chat bans. Keep your virtual bribes! Free speech forever! :D

CIassD Personnel8/19/2019, 6:52:34 PM2 votes

I got banned for saying the N word as a joke like the rest of my friends, IN OUR LOBBY CHAT, OUR 5 MAN, ALL GROUPED, ALL know in real life, ALL joke around 5 MAN GROUP not affecting a single other person, I got banned because someone on the enemy team reported me for saying "ez" after we won, the Robot system picked up the lobby chat and boom, perma banned

Its an automated system. If ur form of toxicity is unusual it wont detect u no matter how often ur reported. All uve gotta do is avoid basic cus words or typing in all caps and ur usually good to go. Also if u type ALOT itll pick u up.

Shit i lost an account for arguing with a shit ekko d4 because i just typed to much, legit didnt even say anything that wasnt blatantly obvious.

I got my ban from one of those super tilting games where you almost win but somehow end up losing, I kinda deserved it. Thing is though, it only gave me a 2 week ban, hence the name, and when I thought the ban was over and was ready to get off this ''temporary'' account, the ban somehow became permanent. So now I'm stuck with this, ever since then I've tried to avoid hard-flaming and gotten less toxic.
