Why wasn't TLD touched by riot?

By my understanding, riot got rid of strength of the ages because it was pretty much mandatory for every jungler. Well what about thunderlords? Isn't that basically mandatory for every mid laner, as well as a number of tops and ADCs?

It's because they want TLD to be the baseline for how powerful a mastery is.

Then they made a mastery with almost the same cooldown that can easily give a tank a 300+ shield per nearby enemy champ mid game lel

For 4 seconds and only after applying some hard CC.

Because all the information matters when making a complaint.

Yeah but 4 seconds is actually a long ass time for a shield that doesnt decay and applying hard cc shouldnt be a problem either.

Still important to make sure all the information is present when making a complaint.

If it gets too strong, it will get nerfed. Everything that's defensive gets nerfed immediately when it gets too strong.

I predict that it will be "balanced" when the shield is two seconds.

I strongly doubt that is how that is how they would they would choose to nerf it. If someone landed a 3-5 man CC, then the shield would be gone before the enemy had any chance to respond. That wouldn't be very fun to use, even if it was balanced. Lowering the raw shield values or making it less rewarding for hitting high/low numbers of enemies would be better options.

the shield becomes less effective the more people you CC

ie if sejuani were to land a 5 man stun and follow with Q, half the shield has already been spent doing nothing for her. iffy example because the teamfight will usually end at that point, but worth considering that you're not ever really going to get the full value out of the shield because of how it applies unless you CC one person and then facetank the other 4

how are you not getting the full value of a shield when it's the shield that's taking damage and not your actual HP? you don't activate a shield and hope it doesn't break. All that damage would have gone to your HP and you would be that much closer to dying! instead the shield took all that damage and you are still pretty healthy yourself

5 people are stunned and cannot damage your shield for 2 seconds -> for 2 seconds, your shield is not doing anything for you

the shield will probably be most valuable on single target lockdown champions like Leona and Vi. i will probably switch to grasp for sejuani

I'd like to agree with this, but it seems to me it's closer to a high bar than a baseline.

IMO the reason they got rid of SotA was because it was just boring raw stats. Thunderlords has more gameplay implications.

Doesn't explain why they didn't get rid of Bond of Stone too though.

It was.

Even if they don't touch its damage, I'd love to see them fix the weird interaction with champions like Lux who are able to proc it in only two attacks.

Mid lane is the domain of combo-based burst mages and assassins, so of course the majority of them take TLD.

Compare to the jungle, where champions like fucking Nidalee or Graves were taking SotA.

thunderlords is pretty toxic to me idk like champos like sona and zyra benefit alot from that extra dmg proc

but idk maybe its a decent blance buff of dmg to all champs who may need it to make them viable u knoiw

but they still get outshined by the ones who dont need it and just want more burst

There are a lot that build DFT or even SRS.
