What's not to understand?

If the system places you against a team with a lower MMR, and you win, you don't gain much LP, because you SHOULD win this game.

If you lose against lower MMR, you lose a lot of LP, again because you SHOULD win this game. If you don't, it shows that you are not playing at the level your MMR represents, so the system actively tries to adjust you to your real level.

A matchmaking system is not concerned with what you want or not.

And apparently, that second "garbage waste of time" was good enough to beat your team, so what does that say about you?

You're playing a lot of duo games that affect your mmr. The system believe you shouldn't actually be the elo you are. If you're losing more than you're gaining it's just the system balancing you out to where you probably should be. Also your duo partners are high plat players which creates a gap in elo. If the system believes you should be higher you would consistently face higher level players to progress. Sadly it thinks otherwise, hence your situation.

/edit Also like mentioned above you're losing games where every other player has a lower elo than yours (the exception of one player), which affects your gains and losses.

/edit2: Also that "garbage of waste of time" is playing at your perceived elo. Take a moment to think about that.
