Can we talk about the assassins who are (little risk) HIGH REWARD?

I never understand why Riot never talk about the issue that is of meddler definition of HIGH RISK HIGH REWARD?

Fizz Zed

These 2 champion are beyond the word high risk.

Zed can always ult out like leblec and has a harassment damage that is beyond the range of most mid and worst part is he has energy to sustain non stop. Thanks to the no QSS on his ult now it's beyond unfair playing against him and please don't say get zonya since that item cost so much for a item that sucks A LOT for a first finish build item and that's what you pretty much need to buy to even have a chance to counter him at lvl 6. Exhaust can save you until lvl 6 but after that Zed will probably have enough damage even if you exhaust him when he ults.

Fizz Has a broken trickster that when it reaches 40% cool down he can dive and get out non stop with crazy aoe damage and a slow. Worst part is that if a click ability animation does not hit him in time he can get away while the person with used their ability on him has to wait for their cool down again, worst part is by the time he has his cool down back up Fizz will probably have his trickster up AGAIN after getting distance away and make a turn or dive on the person again doing the cycle over and over again.

Like how are these champion high risk high reward? They have the most pain in the ass escape tool to deal with.

Akali Katarina Yasuo Ahri Kassadin These champion are the definition of high risk and high reward.

Even if they dive and do high damage the team can still return damage on them or have a chance of saving the team mate.

Talon Talon I have mix feeling because yes he can do a instant kill but if you get just over 80 armour and a hp item you can pretty much survive him unless he want's to throw away his life to take you out of the fight by sticking on you even in team fight. He also has a higher cool down then zed and fizz with only his escape being his ult which you can pink ward to counter it in a team fight. At least you have a CHANCE which is better then nothing and he has a higher cool down then fizz.

People say Talon is broken yes it's true he can practically kill you in a instant but he can be counter easy with armour and his harassment is not even strong any more after his nerfs he also has mana cost which can cost him a lot if he wants to spam it to harras the enemy.

Honestly I think Talon isn't much of a problem unless you're just ignoring his potential of being a threat. Talon is easily abused early game due to his super weak laning phase pre 6. Just harass him out of lane and gank him when he's pushed too far out. Unless he's farming close to tower, he would have a hard time escaping a good gank. Talon's E is not a reliable escape either, considering it's long cooldown and the fact he can only E to enemy minions or jungle camps. Post 6 yeah pink wards can be a pretty big nuisance for a Talon in team fights. Plus once he fully commits, he has no way to get out since all his skills will be on cooldown. And if he doesn't close his ult when killing someone and uses the stealth: Pink Wards. I'd say he is pretty High Risk High Reward.

On the other hand....I agree on Zed. He is much harder to abuse early game unless you get some good ganks.

That being said I'm probably very bias on this subject.

Lolz at Zed outranging most mids.

With shadow* my bad if you thought I only ment his Q

Errastas2 votes

Extended poke range on a 20s cooldown and gives up his escape.

O forgive me high damage makes up for that cool down and pushes the enemy back and if the enemy tries to cs from a minion press it again to stand right beside him to auto them since his auto does more damage then pretty much an ap ability damage until he finish 1 item build which zed will obviously counter with maw. O ya when he gets to lvl 6 which he should do pretty fast that will be his escape buddy. Also he doesn't need to shadow at all he can just Q non stop with energy/no mana which is a fast animation too thx to riot buff.

Let's not forget his Q even with out shadow pretty much out damage and ap ability too.

I don't know how you play, but I tend to out range Zed and push waves faster.

You main TF and it sounds like it's a bad matchup for you. Switch it up and try something else into Zed.

The Bearded Bard1 votes

Who are you using to push waves faster than Zed early game without running oom?

Errastas1 votes

Cho, Ziggs, Kayle, and Mord.. All can push a wave faster. Yeah Zed can wave clear really well, but if he's being forced to do that he can't be poking you at the same time.

The Bearded Bard1 votes

I'll give you cho. The rest, no. Ziggs is gonna go oom pretty fast, as a Ziggs player, I know that. Kayle isn't gonna do it from a further range than Zed, but you're right about the faster push. Morde's not gonna do it faster and loses pretty much all of his use going into a solo lane.

Ahri and Kass are not high risk high reward. Especially not ahri. Both champs have more mobility than fizz and zed. Im not going to say they are broken, cause they arent, but I need to point that out. Ahri is one of the safest champions in the game.

Papa Slothy1 votes

kassadin early game needs to give up the mobility to all in (6 second cd at lvl 1), but i see your point and it is fairly valid

The Bearded Bard1 votes

Ahri for sure, but she also plays more like a mage than an assassin. Kassadin isn't as safe as you might think. Yeah straight up ganking him post-6 is damn near impossible, but once he's in a fight, he's got two ults to kill you, if he can't by then he can't safely leave the fight, his increased mana costs simply won't let him. Not to mention his ult does have a cooldown on top of the massively increased mana cost.

Isnt Leblanc sorta in the low risk good reward? I don't play her just thought she was based on what people say about her.

japan hate acc1 votes

She is. Her gap closer allows her to go in, burst in, and then pull out. VERY low risk, but high reward.

The Bearded Bard1 votes

I'd definitely take Yasuo off the high risk list.

I'd definitely take Yasuo off the high risk list.

How's Yasuo not high risk?

The Bearded Bard1 votes

what's the risk in lane phase where he's supposed to be sub par? go in and you damage them and lose your regainable shield. get ganked and you've got windwall and dashes to get you out. miss a knock up q, no worries you're resourceless with no cooldowns.

I guess you could make the argument that he's risky late game, but not really. only engages when the enemy team is hard cced

Spicy Rice1 votes

It sounds like yasuo is really op. You should main him and show us how low risk he is, just like you explained in your post

The Bearded Bard1 votes

The champion doesn't appeal to me. Playing against him isn't about how well you do, it's about how poorly the Yasuo does.

I wouldn't necessarily call him OP, but his kit is definitely overloaded to the point that it's frustrating to play against.

Hey! I'm a Talon main, and I'll tell you how to deal with him.

Armor is very annoying, and though Talon can 100-0 you in an instant, he has very little teamfighting skills and hard cc is a pain in the ass. He also has a weak laning phase, so an oppressed Talon early on will be pretty useless. He has high mana costs and cooldowns, so it is harder to take down multiple targets in a short period of time, unless they are both low health. Raising the cost of boots hurt him, and so did raising the cooldown of his ult.

Talon is actually a pretty healthy assassin. Now, hear me out.

While many assassins have escape tools (Zed, Fizz, LEBLANC especially), Talon does not. Zed, Kha'Zix, and Fizz' gap closers are versatile enough to go away from an approaching enemy. However, Talon's gap closer only blinks him to an enemy. This does not allow him to really put any distance between him and his pursuer. Now, many argue his ult could be an escape tool, and it can, but the blades converge on his location, which means you know which way he went, as opposed to Kha'Zix's ult. And though his W can be an escape tool (slowing effect), this is very situational, so it isn't a reliable tool. Why do I bring up his inability to escape as well as others? Because this means Talon is forced to choose his targets, aka isolated squishy carries.

To add to this, Talon had arguably the best burst out of all the assassins in the game, but the shortest range. This means he has to position himself correctly. Positioning can give a player away, and this combined with his vulnerability to hard cc, escape lackingness, and laning weakness makes him pretty balanced. Remember, armor, cc, tanks, drawn-out fights, and item 3364 can allow you to triumph over a Talon. Oppress him early game, and he can't snowball late game.

I think Zed is too versatile. As in he has the ability to stay away from immediate threats and become a poke caster with the range on his Q + W. Given that mid game it DOES have a noticeable cooldown. Nonetheless it deals quite a bit of damage which isn't hard to land when you're a competent Zed player. He has incredible damage on multiple units/AoE so that allows him to deal extra peripheral damage on anyone that tries to go near his vicinity. Fun fact: Zed's Death Mark ultimate was originally going to sprout two extra shadows (maximum 3 with Living Shadow) but designers though he dealt TOO MUCH AoE damage.
