Her mana-lessness is balanced around her abilities. Just not her animation canceling.
Maximum Zilean1 votesOr actual cooldowns. Considering how much she spams abilities, she would go OOM in 2 rotations and be flat out useless.
Giving her longer cooldowns would be the better option.
Or removing her animation canceling. Riot even said it was unintended and decided to keep it in game for this long, and then balance riven around it for some reason.
Prospector Pete1 votesThe mana costs would be relatively low, so she wouldn't really go OOM without spamming her abilities all the time. The mana costs would mainly be for the laning phase, and wouldn't really do much later on. But I do agree that she should have longer cooldowns.
GuileRaven1 votesThere is nothing broken about Riven. She excels at direct confrontation that's all. Don't fight a champion using a method that they excel at, and you won't get facerolled. As an ADC, you wouldn't do extended trading against a Jinx, or a get close to a Graves; so why would you think trading cooldowns with Riven is a good idea?

Riven was well farmed, Yasuo was not. It doesn't matter if he had no chance to react, forethought is more important than reaction timing. He completely misplayed that by getting so close to her with no minion back up. His priorities were stupid, he tried to hit her with his whirlwind instead of using it to clear the minions. Furthermore, there is a reason Yasuo is not a toplaner. A squishy all in champ who has no escapes should not be in a lane dominated by tanky bullies and no tower to easily fall back to.
Yasuo is a melee adc, riven is an assassin; assassins counter adcs. Do the math.
