New game mode idea to address casual/competitive split

There seems to be a pretty big conflict between veterans and casual players lately. No matter what Riot does, they will alienate one side of this debate. Some parts of the player base want long games that are complex, strategic, and have lower damage than what is currently offered. Some parts want a fast game that they can just casually jump into and finish up in 15-20 minutes. What we have now is something in between that nobody is quite happy with. So my idea is that a separate game mode is created in Normals.

New game mode: Quick Match. This would have no ranked system, but a drafting option would be available.

This would have the following changes from the current system: -Passive gold generation increased by 15% -Gold from minions/jungle camps increased by 10% -Tower health reduced by 500 across the board, except for Nexus turrets which would remain the same. -Inhibitor health reduced by 400. -Rift Herald disappears at 16 minutes and has 2000 less health -Baron spawns at 16 minutes and has 1500 less health -All champions start with 10% CDR and the cap is raised by 10%

In my proposal, the following changes would be made to normal games and Ranked.

-Champions do 10% less damage to other champions -Turret damage increased by 10% -Turret health raised to 3800, Nexus turret health raised to 3600 -Baron health raised by 2000, bonus AD/AP decreased by 25%, bonus minion damage decreased by 10% -Rift Herald disappears and Baron appears in 22 minutes (up from 20)

Any thoughts on these ideas?

I Like the idea a lot. Both the concept and the changes you listed. Some of them obviously look like they could be tweaked like the 10% CDR change.

I just personally think that giving 10% CDR across the board would really screw with the "balance" that we have. But everything else looks splendid.

This would be a good idea but League already has, not one, but two casual fast game modes. Summoners Rift was always meant to be a long macro game of strategy and planning. Twisted Treeline is a lite version of this, with some strategy and objectives (altars, vileroth) but mostly just shorter game that's focused on roaming and fighting that allows players to experiment with faster and simpler games, while at the same time learning important mechanics. Twisted Treeline is exactly the quicker and less complicated game mode that Summoner's Rift is slowly turning into. Twisted Treeline prioritizes team fights by making it easy to walk over to your allies and help them out as well as the altar system a better concept than stuff like dragon that encourages actual strategy and not just a giant stat-check for your entire team. (Also the rewards are simpler more fair).

League also has the damage-heavy under 20 mins ridiculously fun but completely unbalanced shit fest that is ARAM. In ARAM everything is quick burst damage and smashing your face on a keyboard. There are still many interesting strategical plays in ARAM that involve diving and the strange itemization in Howling Abyss, but it really is a simply and basic game mode for people that feel the need to finish just one more game before they start cleaning their room.

These two game modes already serve the purpose of fun and interesting, but lightning fast, games. Adding an additional game mode would just take up Riot's time for six months before they release it and then decide to ignore it while it gradually reverts into a button that gamers down the road might think: "Gee I wonder how this works" before getting absolutely nuked on by the only people that ever play it after waiting for a literal decade just to get placed in a match.

TLDR: Quick Match is an interesting idea but ARAM and Twisted Treeline already serve the purpose of quick games and if they were actually balanced then people who wanted that would play it.

PS: Roit wants to make games shorter because it's hell to go to a live tournament and watch 5 60 min games take place. It's a reasonable complaint so maybe they could take your Quick Match idea and use it for LCS? Of course then they would be balancing champions for LCS but it would literally be a different game mode, so those balance changes would be really weird in normal SR games.

Unfortunately one of the main reasons they stated for shortening game length is because of the pro scene. They feel like a 5 game match currently takes too long for the audience so they're shortening it (which annoys me because they're balancing the game based on .001% of players).

So I think the quick match version should be the pro scene version and the longer one should be for us. Just my thoughts though
