Mobility makes it this way. Because there are so many super mobile champions, you need to be able to lock them in place or burst them down if they are momentarily out of position. Further, the super mobile champions don't have to worry about getting in range of bruisers without gap closers, as they can just dash/blink/flash away if needed. Mobility started League down this path.

I find this particular batch of complaints to be unfounded without people playing a substantial amount on live. We don't know how good or bad new Morde will be. He might be great. He might be awful. The only thing that is certain is that he'll be different. And a champion being different isn't enough reason for the sort of nihilistic response that Morde mains have been displaying on the forums for the past two weeks or so.

Everyone should be able to relate to someone's favorite champion/main being alienated and changed into something so different. Also forcing people to play him in a particular role isn't being opposed to change, it's being shocked that one's main role roster is being shaken up so hard. I for example main Morde top and he's my go to top laner. What am I supposed to play now? I adapted my playtyle to fit into top so should I disregard everything I've learned to play bot lane or simply forget about ever wanting to play my favorite champion again?
I'd love to get some changes for Morde. I really do. Changes that actually strengthen his thematic and gameplay appeal and build on his character. Making him more enjoyable, healthier and overall more unique rather than reworkin one sigle ability, nerfing some others and calling it a day, not really addressing flaws and strengths and missing his personality by far.

Lane Nidalee still functions though, or am I mistaken? I'd be fine with morde top not being as great as he'd be bot but the W change would be practically like making Nidalee's traps only work on Jungle creeps or her heal only being able to be cast on allied champs. Would that feel good? Heck no!
I've watched every single piece of PBE footage I could salvage, I've done the math with every build combination I deemed could be viable on Morde and yeah, I did read every Riot comment on the PBE boards and here. Guess what the common consensus regarding the Morde rework is? And heck, I'd gladly discuss the Morde changes in detail with some rioters but they outright refuse to brush upon the topic and avoid it like the plague.

He's really underestimated. He could probably use some casting time QoL buffs, but that's about it.

He's underwhelming at the moment, but certainly playable and is in a good enough spot to not be a glaring issue like some other champs, but he could use a little help in a number of places. His spells being canceled if he dies are a gripe but again, not as bad as Morde's Feast or Famine issue. Veigar, even if he does bad in lane and didn't farm well enough, can still use his ult to turn an enemy's AP against them, and control the flow of fights with his stun.

It is not so much that we have to adapt, it is more that we Mord players were forced into a lane that is very difficult to succeed in. If they gave us tools to do well then ok it would be more forgiving. But when MS, shield generation, range (specifically for Q, as before we could bounce it off a minion wave to hit our opponent), lane pushing power (E got nerfed to shit early game), overall early game got nerfed, it is a bit difficult to come out on top.

They said that Mord has the defenses to survive down in bot lane. I am assuming they are talking about our shield. You know, the one that within 1-2 AA's is gone, the one that is difficult to get to begin with (minion generation was nerfed and it is difficult to hit enemy champs since we are so outranged). The added defenses we had on W are gone. Yea we can heal with W but, we have to be on top of eachother for it to work making it easier for our enemies to CC both of us (Braum, Nami, Sona).

I also hate that if/when I pick Mord ADC, I kind of force my support into a CC heavy champ. I do not want to force my teammates into picking a champ they are not the best/greatest at. If we want that sustained damage to towers or for teamfights? Mid or top has to grab an ADC to compensate for me picking Mord. I want to play the champs I enjoy, but do not want to dictate the rest of what my team plays (at my low elo people just play what they like, they don't base it around team comps).

The last, and most important aspect of why Mord players are upset, is that we are now gimped in any other lane. 1/4th of our kit is useless in lane. We have two abilities to trade with pre-6. It is one thing to give incentive for Mord to go duo lane, but another to FORCE him into it. That is whats the most upsetting from what I have seen (as well as personally feel).

For the record, I HAVE played quite a few games with him on PBE. He can be powerful yes. But if your enemy bot lane is even somewhat competent, you will not be able to get the items you need to make an impact at all. Even if you do well, you still feel like a bit of a burden to your team if you took a "normal" ADC instead.

I do have to admit, he is more playable than i thought at first.

However, he also feels incredibly clunky in several ways. As someone that mained Mordekaiser since i started playing this, i cant help but feel heart broken.

Thank you for everything, Mordekaiser. You were the funniest champion in the game for me and i will always treasure the fun we had together. Hopefully you will be changed at a later date into a state that actually feels smoothy.

It is funny, but i do not think new Mord is any more healthy to the game. His new Q is stupid as fuck, and clearly only there to make up for the rest of his nerfed kit, he is far more feast-and-famine than on live and will make your team rage just for being picked.

plz dont laugh, that overgrown lizard likes to completely ignore my commands even when i am nearby.

Cant even abuse the fact it doesnt have a leash range and back while it takes a jungle camp because the damn thing will randomly stop attacking and sit on his god damn ass until i tell him to continue.

The rework isnt very good to begin with, but i want the damn mechanic to actually work if they are going to destroy my favorite champion.

At least his new ability icons are badass, outside of W.

I'm saying it sucks they destroyed his main, even though I still hate Morde, it does blow to lose your favorite champ.

EDIT: I'd lane versus pretty much anybody over him in Mid. Only other person who is close to as annoying is Cass.

Heck, as a Morde main I know he's a pain in the ass to deal with but I'd rather have a full blown rework addressing the toxic parts rather than trying to be lazy and force him bot since they obviously don't have a clue how to balance him without a bigger scale rework.

His old identity was "do tons of damage and shield incoming damage". He had no CC. He had no mobility. He had no levers other than damage and shield amounts that Riot could pull. These types of champions can't really be balanced. In order for their numbers to be strong enough to work against smart players, they have to be so strong that they just face roll anyone dumb enough to stand and fight them. The only real solution is to change his kit somehow. I feel terrible for Morde mains who were attached to the old Morde because this seems like a HUGE departure from his previous identity, but it seems like something was needed to put him in a healthier place.

Oh wait, popularity = healthy now.... in maybe 1000 games, ive seen morde maybe 20 times, yet he gets this. I see zed picked or banned almost always and he gets his attack speed scratched....

That's what's sick. People learn champions and roles, then have to relearn EVERYTHING by niche selection of the "esport's" management.... which is TOTALLY unfair and unjust to any veteran main of these.... "reworks". A sport should be an even playing field, not this...

As a former main of Leblanc i feel your pain. sorry man, don't worry though. there's lots of cools team games. rocket league is a lot of fun and much more stress free.
