[Rant] Why the promotion series mechanism annoys me...

Ok, sorry guys, but I just need to vent.

Yesterday, I started playing I was Silver III at ~15 LP. I played 5 matches, 3 wins for 2 losses, and I ended the night in Silver III at 0 LP. Wanna know why?

Because the losses were the first 2 games, so I got demoted in Silver IV, then I had to win 3 games just to get back in Silver III, 0 LP. If I had had the exact same games but just in a different order, I would have ended the night in Silver III at ~30 LP. A 30-LP difference just because of the ordering of the wins/losses is just absurd!!

The worst thing is, this happens a lot. I got demoted-then-promoted-back something around 12 times over the course of season 5. Before the "free promo win" mechanism introduced recently, each demotion-then-promotion-again was a 3-victory worth of LP loss. Now it's "only" a 2-victory loss. So over the course of the season I lost something like 30 victories worth of LP, just because I didn't win my matches in the "right" order.

GRAAAA...

P.S.: Let's try to make this thread a tiny bit constructive... Any idea to solve this issue? The "free promo win" mechanism only partially solves the symptoms, but not the root issue.

How to solve this issue: Stop caring about 30 LP. It's literally only 2 games. There's no skill difference between 0 LP and 30 LP, there's not even a skill difference between Silver 4, 3, and 2.

Well, I give you the benefit of the doubt, this being a written forum and all but... it seems really arrogant.

And it's beside the point of the topic. The ordering of your win/loss shouldn't impact so much your LP score, whether you are in Silver or Platinum, I don't care. And 30 LP may be negligible, but it was just in one session. Over the course of the season, it's more akin to 450 LP. Don't tell me 450 LP is negligible...

What makes me mad is the LP gains and losses depending on sides of the map.THAT'S RIDICULOUS. Put me on red side pls so I don't lose 22 and gain 17 like on blue side.

I doubt there is a link between side and LP values... Source?

Record it. If your red side, record what amount of LP you gain if you lose/gain for defeat/victory. Do it for the other side. http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/rankings/win-stats

They do this because blue side wins 3% more games than red side, saying that blue side has bigger advantages (?).

Apparently this fact is surprising to so many people, but its been around for a while. Just do what I said. Even if you don't believe me, google search red side vs blue side lp gains.

I knew there was a slight difference, but according to your own link, it's not 3%, it's 0.6% (so 5 times less...).

Riot may compensate that in some way or other, but I highly doubt that a 0.6% difference generates a LP difference as large as you mention.

OP has a point, I always thought its dumb that you begin each new division with 0 LP but when you fail promos you are down to 50-75 LP.

This ranked system was handed to Riot by a god and is law. It cannot be altered. Someone once wrote about this. I'll find the thread if anyone is interested.
