And yet others, the ones Riot doesn't like for some reason, are being nerfed.
For example, on the PBE right now there are nerfs for Viktor. He is my favorite champion in the game, and I will not try to hide/deny that this makes me biased. I also don't watch many of the 'pro games' but I know that Viktor has a high pick rate there because he can temporarily stall games with his good waveclear. That said, I can't remember the last time I've seen another Viktor in one of my games.
It may be because of my Elo (I was Silver 4 last season, but I don't play many ranked games) that I don't see Viktor, but I have a few Gold/Plat friends and one in Diamond that have said they don't see him much either. For every eight or nine assassins I come across in mid, I'll see a mage. Most of the time that mage will be Lux, Morgana, or Annie. I've even seen more Swains recently than Viktors.
Even people with more than 125 games played as Viktor have a winrate of less than 50%. Winrate shouldn't always be a factor when deciding buffs and nerfs, but when even his 'mains' can't break the 'above average' standard, I don't think more nerfs are the way to go.
I know that anecdotes and "Well, I saw this so it must be true..." stories aren't the best examples of evidence, but I'm still trying to find out a reason for these nerfs in a time when Viktor's biggest counters are being buffed out the wazoo. If anyone has a reasonable explanation, I'd really like to hear it. Riot's been quiet on it, and I'm genuinely curious.
