What is Teemo?

All this talk about champions without a clear game play identity...and then there's Teemo. The champ people pick and make me go from playing League of Legends to "Carry this heavy ass weight". What is Teemo, game play wise? For real.

He's a scout/trapper. He provides incredible amounts of vision to his team through mushrooms and can create unexpected situations of strength for him or his team. There really aren't any champions like him although there are a few that provide lesser versions of that strength.

One of the best split pushers I would argue. Try this build path and you can actually beat most people

item 3151item 3115 item 3116 item 3089 and a choice between item 3135 oritem 3157 with item 3020 as needed.

What makes me proud as a Teemo main is that so far there are no hate answers, just legit answers.

But yeah, sometimes having Teemo in your team is benefitial, in the Rift and TT, for traps and wards. For Howling Abyss, for traps and bridge control.

Teemo jungle can work if you know what you're doing. Right now working on that with a 1/1 win/game ratio.

A Teemo is a measurement used by Riot.

ummm... all of the answers posted so far are teemo... and im sure many more that say the same thing... he is versatile, fun to play, and has definite weaknesses that can be exploited by enemies, so besides the teemo hate that has carried on more like a meme than a real thing, hes a great champion

Like, I understand some Teemo mains..."responded", but much like my issue with Teemo as a champ designed in this game, none of these answers paint a clear picture as to what Teemo is supposed to do and how that's valuable to a team of players in this game (focused on SR here, not TT or HA). These answers are as varied as Teemo's builds, which I think is part of the issue: There's no real answer as to what Teemo really does in this game, save split pushing, but that's better done by almost anyone else. Due to this, people sort of "make up" what Teemo is as a champ.

That's my impression anyway.

Teemo should build AP damage and AP on-hit (Liandry's, Rabadon's, Nashor's, etc.) to give him powerful autos through toxic shot and powerful mushrooms through their AP ratio. If he's going to split push then he can build pretty much glass cannon and depend on good mushroom placement and global awareness to keep himself safe. If he'll need to team fight at some point he might look into some AP bruiser items (ROA, Abyssal, Zhonya's) so he won't die to any wayward breeze.

Teemo is usually picked top lane as a counter pick to a champion that he can out-range, constantly harass with his toxic shot, cancel any engage attempt with blinding dart, and also safely farm.

As the game moves on he should roam the enemy jungle and spread wards and shrooms to make it hard for the enemy to gank him as he pushes in the outer and tier 2 turrets.

For team fighting he should look into placing his mushrooms in good spots so his team can disengage over them to turn a fight around or ensure the disengage is safe. His auto attacks are powerful but low range so he should be watching for a target to get out of position so he can safely put a chunk of damage on him. Furthermore he can serve to counter an engage from certain champions by casting blinding dart to eliminate their auto attacks for a brief period.

It's also important to put mushrooms at all choke points so you can try to see what the enemy is trying to do. If your team sees the enemy front line hit a shroom in tri bush by top lane, they can then decide if they want to engage and prevent some baron pressure, or go pressure another part of the map and get something before the enemy can respond.

I think his champion tags are still "assassin/support" which seems like a fair assessment to me. He's a vulnerable damage dealer but can create situational advantages so his squishiness doesn't matter and he provides utility to his team that can't easily be expressed in damage numbers through vision that allows them to do their job better.

This is around the ballpark of expectations I had, but the last Teemo I had that was of any value and didn't feed was one that built ZZ'Rot and a ton of movement speed/crit stuff and just split top and kited all game.

Teemo is usually picked top lane as a counter pick to a champion that he can out-range, constantly harass with his toxic shot, cancel any engage attempt with blinding dart, and also safely farm.

My problem is that when I have Teemo on my team, he feeds and becomes essentially useless. Even if it's against Nasus or Tryndamere.

The issue I find with Teemo in team fights, and thus this notion of putting down shrooms to disengage, is that LoL team fights are so explosive that they're over in a flash. So the shrooms probably won't do jack crap...assuming you get time to put them down without the enemy noticing to begin with.

Teemo is a marksman/assassin.
