lucian sees play despite his state, kogmaw sees otherwise

lucian sees play despite having a 44% win rate and the meta not favoring him. kogmaw sees play ONLY when he's overtuned. says something about kog'maw. what i dont get is how most of board agrees that lucian needs a rework or changes BUT when something about kog'maw pops up the consensus is that he's "completely fine" or "just not favored in the meta" but thats none of my business

My guess, is because hes better in high ELO and really requires his team to pick around him. Kog needs peel to be useful(most of the time) Lucian attracts those players who believe that they can dodge everything and carry no matter how under tuned he is. People will always like vayne/lucian/ezreal/yasuo/riven/etc because of the mobility and it FEELS like youre more in control of whats going on.

only improvement in winrate in higher elo is in masters by .61% and in challenger by .08% (comparing kog vs lucian). so he's not that much better. the mobility thing i agree with. i totally get that he's super fun to play and he can kite with his E with passive reducing the CD. so then why not make kog'maw fun as well? why does kog have to have an entire team oriented around him and lucian can 1v5 ?

Im pretty sure Kog's Dmg heavily outscales lucians. What he lacks in mobility, he makes up for in raw damage.

kog'maw's damage is conditional. he needs to have 6 stacks on Rageblade, land his Q, have his W off cooldown and land his R at crucial moments. kog'maw can't just walk up and AA Lucian

Uh, what? Kog's doing fine right now.

so then why isn't his play right higher?

My thing with Lucian is that he's so versatile in his build path. It's hard to force him out of the meta, when he can chose between a crit build, a BotRK rush, a Lethality build, etc.

Also to that end though, it may be deflating his win rate as players haven't quite figured out which build is best. (Which isn't as obvious as other ADC's) Don't quote me on that though.

"So hard to force him out"

Did you play this game before bork changes lmao

Which ones?

I've played this game 3+ years, and have seen him built a half a dozen different ways. First it was Blood thirster and Tri force, then around mid 4th season, BT got changes, and BotRK got a buff in it's HP shreding passive, but had it's active nerfed. At that point, I saw a BotRK + Ghost Blade build on Lucian, but that transitioned into a more crit oriented build when Hyper carries were the OP pick.

Eventually during the ADC update at the end of season 5. Ghost blade got reworked into being more of a true Assassin item. And Lucian lost most of his AS scaling in his kit, pushing him towards a Caster ADC. When that happened, he did fairly well with an ER build, which subsided in favor of the Apen build, and now we have a current build.

You might be referring to a more specific time period, but buy and large he has enough versatility in his build options to adapt to a changing meta.

I'm slightly confused on how you think lucian has a 44% win rate when he's actually currently the best ADC and is probably going to be hit by the nerf bat soon (or BTRK which he abuses). Kog is also actually currently a problem but that's because of Lulu and not so much Kog. Lulu Kog combo is disgusting and uncounterable.

before his recent buffs, a couple months back, lucian was the worst performing ADC. i was tracking his win rate and for the longest time he was barely performing better than kalista who was at a ~42% win rate (though she had several bugs). both had relatively close win rates BUT lucian maintaned a 10% play rate.

so then kog isn't a problem. additionally lulu performs well with several ADCs, not just kog'maw. kog'maw has performed relatively well over the past few months because a handful of dedicated OTPs play him regardless of his state.

"uncounterable" is a terrible accusation. seems like you haven't play as Kog'Maw + Lulu recently

7.36% is considered a "niche pick?" Yeah right he's the 8th highest picked ADC with the second best win rate right after Lucian. Like I said though, he's fine where he is. Lulu's performance has single handedly skyrocketed his win rate (along with the BTRK change).

notice how kog'maw's play rate only recently sky rocketed? this is a result of lethality ADCs falling out of favor and Lulu being strong. nothing to do with Kog'Maw. he hasn't bee changed since 7.1.
