level 7 mastery
._. am i just missing the point of why it's so hard to obtain? got lvl 7 mastery on xerath within my first 6 games (could understand the blue essence, but i was unlucky and kept getting champ shards >.>)

Since grading isn't mmr dependent, those at lower elos are prone to finding getting S grades somewhat harder than those at higher ELOs. Those who play at a plat+ level might find S's and S+'s an uncommon, but they're not that rare, compared to bronze players who'll get them once in a blue moon (although more than you'd think, since the lack of skill on the opposing side sortof counteracts the lack of skill on their own side, and massive bloodbaths are a thing). As such, getting the mastery tokens in the first place holds lots of people back.
Blue essence was another hold up for awhile even for people who could reliably get S's, but now that the champ shard coin thing is a thing, probably not as big a deal.
