When to Lane Phase When there is no direct competition. Research "Basic Game Theory". How to spot this:

  • Multiple enemy champions are dead
  • Enemies MIA
  • Your lane opponent is tilted, and you've snowballed enough to extend power.

When NOT to Lane Phase When there is direct competition. How to spot this:

  • Enemies are visible
  • Enemies have the upperhand, and have deprived you of the power to help other lanes.

This is what I mean by "extending power" and I can NOT stress this enough. If you're an ADC, for example, and you've been farm-starved all match then stay in lane. You have not accumulated the necessary strength to extend any aide. "You can't pour from an empty cup".

If you're losing lane then stay in lane. STAY IN YOUR LANE. If your lane opponent can snowball you without a problem- the last thing we need is you inviting them to a team fight to snowball you for easy gold and pick off the rest of us. STAY IN YOUR LANE. If your opponent stays in lane with you then you have helped by keeping them contained. If your opponent decides to go to another lane, you have helped yourself to some farm.
