Unpopular Opinion: Damage Isn't Too High

A bit about me to save you guys the trouble of rushing to op.gg, I've been playing since season 1. I've been Gold+ in every season that I played in. There have been a couple in there that I skipped. The highest I've gotten was Platinum 2 a couple of season ago. I'm currently Platinum 4, but I only played a couple of months this season, and hit a bit off a loss streak shortly after hitting Platinum 4 and didn't want to risk falling back down right before the season end, so I stopped.

I main Rammus, and play him almost exclusively. When I don't manage to get Rammus, I play other tank champions like Amumu and Maokai.

So if anyone should be crying about a "damage meta" it's probably me. Instead, what I've found is that tanks with tank itemization generally get beefy enough to survive focus fire 5-6 times longer than squishies with no tank itemization. Tanks can tank a turret for a long time, long enough for some teams to burst them down even without minions post 20 minutes. They fulfill a role and their itemization options go a long way to supporting that effort.

What a load of crap:

  1. You're attempting to use a hypermobile tank as the epitome of crying about damage. Tanks are the ones the damage impacting early game. It's the adcs, mages, etc whose base HP and HP growth make taking hits non sustainable.

I'll give you a REALLY nice example of damage meta:

I Just played a game with a Xayah adc and I was Morg support.

Xayah Hard pushed level 1. Got backdoored by 3 champs. Didn't even try to flash. Me: Flashed river way and got out.

What this meant: Jhin/Nautilus had free minute to farm level 3. Xayah gets back to lane. Xayah gets pulled by Nautilus ONCE. Jhin ONE SHOTS her. Me: I have E and Q, stuck level 2 as Support Morg. Xayah gets back to lane. I get a couple pokes in on Nautilus. Jhin gets 1 poke in on me, W's me. Freezes me, turret dives me, dead.

Tell me all about the non damage meta when you play vs a 1 shot adc (or close to it) as an adc/support.

5-6x longer than 0.02 seconds is only 0.10-0.12 seconds.

ive noticed that most of the time, people who complain about defensive stats being useless, never build a defensive item, even in games where theyre feeding

tanks are dog shit in this conqueror meta, except mundo vs specific comps, hes like one of the last good tanks for how good his e makes him against magic damage comps. nunu is ok, mundo is strong, malphite is strong into ad matchups but he normally goes ap, but in the elo i play at around high diamond to masters i usually see tanks griefing, unless it is one of the tanks i mentioned. I don't really consider garen a tank, hes just a broken pos who is as tanky as a tank and 1 shots people with conqueror. darius can be played like a tank, tank darius with conqeuror, who shits on all tanks. sejuani is a tank nerfed out of viability, the only viable tanks are bruisers that play like tanks while building black cleaver/tri and conqueror into tank items. IMO maokai isn't a viable jungler and amumu should be going ap, or hes bad at the game because of how hard his w scales with ap and lets do objectives like drag and baron alot faster with the true damage, which was nerfed but is still good going ap much more than going tank.

jungle you go around farming creatures without another champ constantly at your throat, and before you say anything about invading even in plat is it's rare to see that happen.

dmg isn't too high, hp is just too low. or resistances are too low. pick one.
