A Suggestion for Renekton's 9.14 Shieldbreaker

For those who have not heard it yet, current plans for 9.14 are to give Renekton's Empowered W, the triple strike, the ability to strip shield from its target. To my knowledge, the shieldstripping effect occurs before W's damage is applied. This will make Renekton very hard to deal with as a champion that depends on his shield for good trades, further empowering Renekton's dominance. Most people would probably consider this a bad thing.

However, what if Empowered W stripped shields after applying the damage? That way, the intended counterplay to him empowering W in lane remains there (as early shields should just about eat the whole empowered W anyways), but the shieldbreaking effect remains a tool in Renekton's arsenal to work with in teamfights and later game stages.
