Can we do something about these S chests?

Seriously, I checked everything in the match, and other than going 11-0-11, collecting the most farm/money, damage, ect. I couldn't even muster an S-? wtf? I was there to assist mid take mid turret, stopped team-mates from dying from ganks, saved Jungler from invades, and failed ganks, warded second most behind support, pinged mia's, or when enemies wasted an ability, face tanked turret fire for team-mates to secure a kill, TANKED Initiated, and someone on my team even said, AND I QUOTE!: "Watch Illaoi not even get an S rank xD" I didn't think about it till after she said that. I was sportsman-like to my allies, congratulating them on their progress, and. . . A+ . . . wtf Riot? Get Gud isn't even applicable here.

It is 100 percent your cs, you did everything else right. Its too low for that long of a game. Did you steal JG camps? That's a biggie.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you should get an S, does it matter if you didn't hit enough creeps if you killed all the enemies so your team could push objectives unopposed? Riot feels you are in the wrong in that scenario and yeah their answer DOES boil down to "GIT GUD SON" and its bullshit and it sucks.

While its true that CS is ALOT of what separates top tier players from lower tiers, in this scenario they reaaaaally should throw you a bone since a player like you would have to basically stop participating in team fights and objectives to go AFK farm waves and the jg for a good 5 min or so just to boost your cs to the 250/275 that would have given you an S and encouraging that kind of behavior is just plain dumb on their part. I mean that level of kill and objective participation with 0 deaths should really get you there alone, but don't count on Riot to ever be nice.

My advice, the easiest way to S is to play something support that has no business doing it, and just do decent (or play a support in another role, same concept, play something out of its lane/role). Baring that, look for champs with very low playrates, but decent winrates in their role, since S is "supposedly" based on the average of the best players, a smaller sample size means less harsh grading. Illaoi is currently number 11 in play percent out of 52 champs top according to champion.gg so the sample size is HUGE and grading is gonna be harsh like you just experienced.

Edit: Just noticed what another player said about Control wards and yeah that helps alot. ALWAYS have one on the map if you can if you are going for an S, they really care about that one.

If the average Illaoi players is already at the enemy base tanking the nexus tower while pentakilling the enemy team everytime they are up then you doing that won`t mean much.

They also count ward scores. So it could be because you didn't ward enough either.

"warded second most behind support"

then my best guess it's your CS is low compared to others.

He probably did. Your rank doesn't matter if you did the 'best of X in that game'. Your rank is based on how League is doing on that champ in that role. If everyone got D+ in that game, you don't get an S for having the most CS.

Oh I see. So it's a global thing?

Hethalean1 votes

Correct, your rank is based on how other people are finishing in their games on that champion in that role. A support Illaoi will get different ranks for the same score as a top Illaoi for example. Also, a Vi and Illaoi will have different scores as well for the same stats. I went through a 2 week period where I thought maybe they changed something about the grading because I couldn't get S ranks and such for what I thought was pretty good scores. Using those data aggregating sites like champion.gg sort of helps me see what maybe I could focus on and such.

Since I suck and am Silver, I can expect the ratio of stats to other things (since I think champion gg is either plat+ or diamond+) is better since those players will know how to play the game better than I do.

regional, you are compared to all the games of Illaoi top in NA

I did and CS is a MAJOR factor. On WW and Skarner I have gone 10/0 with 84 cs and never got passed a A+, but I can go for Skarner 5/1 with 143 CS and get an S. The problem isn't S's are too hard to get it's trying to figure out what the thresh hold to get them are. Focus on CS and not dying and you will eventually find where you can get a S- and then improve from that area such as more CS or more Kills or both. It's what a lot of people do. Find out what you had to get an S-/S/S+ and try to recreate it to find out where the thresh hold is. Want to abuse a system duo with a friend you pick Jg and he picks top and then both have smite and switch places. You will now get a score for Illaoi JG, because that is what Role you picked into.

its based off of best you can play a champion which is relative to the role and champion you are playing so playing a champion like illaoi or xerath will make it harder to get an S because they are some what meta atm and people go 30/0 when they play them good which is what you need for an S+ pretty much

Well what the hell?

SomeStars2 votes

if you play some off-meta shit like veigar support and steal all the kills its easy to get an S

Fegone2 votes

I bet there's something weird in the calculation like:

"Time it takes to buy items in shop"

So that if you take longer than others, you're 'stalling' and thus don't deserve an S rank. Obviously justified, good job Rito.

It's not just scores. It's scores relative to others who play that champion. And specifically that for the average of where you spend your time.

Like, I checked the Advanced details, and still don't understand how I couldn't even muster an S-

I agree, I had a game as mid laner where I went 16-2-19 (64% kill participation), finished my full build first, helped with the dragons/objectives. Pushed towers, and helped other lanes... and ended up with A+

Probably because I "ONLY" had 227 cs (in a 43 minute game). Like I said, I farmed well early on, and later spent more time moving around the map, since the game was very scrappy. Or was it the 2 deaths that removed my S?

It's honestly pretty silly... Honestly though, I don't care about this A, S whatever ranking, it's just annoying when you're looking to get a chest, and start to wonder "hmmm maybe I shouldn't play this champ, because I'm not super proficient at them, and can probalby only get an A+ on them, and no one else is online that I know who I can leech an S out of"

30 minute game. only 200 cs. I don't think that's good cs especially for Illaoi. http://champion.gg/champion/Illaoi/Top Shows that Illaoi gets on average 201 CS (so you got less than average CS) but not sure how that translates into game length, but as she seems to drop off drastically after 30 minute mark I'm going to assume that number is relevant to 200cs at 30 minutes. 6 CS / minute means that on average you missed every other wave. (It'd be nice if champion.gg tracked average cs / min somehow or if there is a site, I'd like to see it actually as it would help analyzing your grade)

You had above average Kills and Assists and less than average deaths, so that is very good. However, I don't think they compensate for other scores to bring you up a bracket. Pretty sure everything has to be above average to get you into S, then just how much above shows where you are on S-, S, or S+.

EDIT Checking all of my recent 30 minute games, most top laners in those games have a good 25% more CS than you. So I'm pretty sure your CS was what needed to be higher to get you to S

Well I ended up roaming to assist mid/jungle as well as pushing so i didn't really focus on farm as much after winning my lane. I get farm only when I could during our groups, and initiations. Aside from the given score, I think I did pretty damned amazing that match.

Hethalean1 votes

Yeah, that can be good, but you can roam too much. If you roam so much that it affects your CS, then it's impacting your growth (especially if you don't get anything out of that roam). Your waves are getting shoved into your towers. They're getting damage on your towers. You can get behind in XP. You can be punished pretty easily if you roam too much. I'm not saying you didn't do well, but just what I've noticed about roaming in particular.

I think your kill participation out of the whole group unfairly counts in cases like this. Like "sure you have 22 kills+assists, but your team had 42 so where were you half the time?" That's the only factor I could consistently see being against me in most of the screenshots of ludicrous b- to a+ games I was getting even when undisputedly carrying. [sg-lux-2]

if riot would just give champion quests adn rewards, and the last reward being a chest.

you get quests like : farm 300 minions in one match place a pink ward in 5 matches destroy 40 towers and take 25 inhibs accumulate X amount of gold in X minutes (must be reasonable ofcourse) get 20+ kills in a match get 30 assists place over 20 wards in 10 matches charm 5 different champions in 12 matches block 10 ults in 3 matches

and at the last quest you get a chest, this way players learn the role and get a chest as bonus. ofcourse only 1 chest per champion owned per season* (year)

and remove grading... believe it or not but your grading is based upon the average top player in your server, so if someone goes 100/0/50 and places over 200 wards you need to match or surpass that -.-

Sohleks1 votes

Trust me. The thing is at least 2/3rds about cs. When you're down 130 from 10/min as a champion with heavy waveclear... yeah... You could have 1 kill but if you have 10 cs/min that's probably an S-

R31W1NG1 votes

(kill participation, KDA, CS, vision score) per specific champion in that game time are the statistics that matter for getting S rank. also perfect kda's have the Death count set to one for the math anyway. kill participation is the worst metric ever as if your team is balls you get a better rating for it and if your team is great you get a shitter one. for game length the cs is low, but you should have still gotten S- at least if you were warding properly. should have gone through about 3 control wards.. also if you're ever in a situation where you have two wards, just throw one down wherever you are if you're questing for S rank. don't do that in a ranked match but then you probably aren't questing for S rank in ranked. oracle's extract isn't valued for shit. pretty much only exists for teemo and won't help you get s rank beyond stopping you from eating shrooms and dieing. ironically playing better isn't key to getting s rank. it's your team playing reasonably and you playing "well" that will get you S. LoL sumo is a great app for measuring those stats in a champion specific manner.

your cs is low

Nea1041 votes

It's glitched, for example you get a lot more "Ss" before mastery 5 with a champ. Then, it's far more difficult. Also, it doesn't take into account damage taken and the like, when you tank for your team in fights.

Placentas1 votes

That's not a glitch, that makes sense. The higher your mastery the higher your skill should be. If you can't get an S as a Mastery 7, it's confusing as to how you even became Mastery 7 in the first place.

Sõna1 votes

your kill participation is low, I can tell you that because some of my game with bad KDA and still getting S-/S because having 70-80% kill participation.

If you are not able to get perfect CS, you must be good at kill participation. If you don't join teamfight or teleport helping teammate, and you should be able to get more CS. Sometimes I did better, having a lot of CS, but still A or A+ because I had no enough P/Kill %.

YuGiHo1 votes

get a friend that plays a variety of champions well, play with them in normal and collect your free chest.

Micbran1 votes

CS is huge. 20 more likely would have gotten you an S

Merevel1 votes

For what it is worth my S- game on illaoi had: 16kda 7.8 or so CS, almost a 60% kill participation, I did almost 35% or so of the total damage to champions on my team, and had a vision score of 8.

Also I share your pain with my main, Gnar, mastery 5 and best I can pull is A+.
