How much of the marksman rework is going to be in items?

One of the biggest things about ADCs is they all tend to use the same build, with one or two options between champs. How much effort should riot spend trying to give us a little more variation in ADC builds? Unless your ADC really needs AS or is a caster, you start IE. You can't play ADC without getting one of SS, PD, or TF. BT and Bork are pretty ubiquitous. LW is a must, as is BC in a tank meta.

Hurricane is pretty much ignored. ER is ignored even though it enables your offense all around. Manamune is only good on Ez and Urgot. IMO a ER rework with an earlier mana item might push manamune out. BC is more of a niche thing. Hydra has good stats and is an easy build item, but the passive is useless on purpose (I wonder why with SS and hurricane in the game and it works in SOADA on ranged champs). Maw is generally only built on melee champs. Mirage blade is gone. Youmuu's is niche.

What could/should happen with ADC items?

I'm pretty sure the items are getting a significant rework. A lot of champions themselves will receive changes but they've stated that even champions who don't get changed will be different given how items are reworked. Ezreal for example.

Yeah, I'm hoping they get a AP mage item rework at the least. Part of me would also like to see a hybrid pen item for ADCs who have a bit of magic damage in their kits... like MF.

Essence Reaver will hopefully become the AD caster item I imagined to be. Manamune would keep its place as mid to late game mana sustain and a scaling item built on Urgot.

I've seen this suggested before. I'm not completely thrilled with that kind of change, but I can see why people are asking for it.

My question for people who support this is with item 3071 and item 3158, it's pretty easy to get 40% cdr on an AD caster. So what would you do to change ER for casters?

I don't see sheen being added to its build list, which would be the most obvious AD caster change. That's TF's main niche on AD champs. I don't see it getting a MS buff after you cast something. As of now, I see it as an item that wants to encourage people to AA as much as possible. In a way it seems to want to allow AD champs with mana issues to keep casting spells and isn't strictly a caster item.

Well, those boots might no longer be core on AD casters if ER becomes better.

You could grab item 3020 item 3006 item 3111 depending on the AD caster in question. Or maybe we'll get more boots?

So you are thinking that ER gets a buff to 20% cdr to go with BC's 20%? If they changed nothing else about the final stats, I'd be happy with that, but I still think it needs a forbidden idol in its build order.

Or maybe we'll get more boots?

What kind of boots?

Lately I've been thinking Evelynn probably needs 2-3 different boot options but that's mostly to modify and make use of her passive more.

I know this isn't going to happen for the marksman rework (or maybe, who knows?), but I really would like armor pen boots.

Why?

It could benefit lane bulles who don't need greaves as bad, and would rather have early game damage over late-game dps.

But mostly due to how item 3111 item 3020 interact. This is mostly a midlane gripe (I don't even play mid, but I find this dumb), but for a 100 gold difference an AD assassin can get a 10 MR advantage and a useful passive against cc (whereas the AP midlaner does not get any passive from it at all). An armor penetration boot would allow AD assassins more damage early/midgame against squishies, and would incenticize them not to auto-build merc treads. Because an AP midlaner isn't going to benefit from ninja tabi as much.

I know this is a discussion about marksman item rework, but I couldn't help but think about their close cousin :V
