Boots are already super cost efficient

Boots are already super cost efficient

you sell item 3006 for item 3046 or item 3087 how would item 3006 be effective if you gonna sell them late game?

So you are telling me that these items item 3046 item 3087
are not cost effective and are worst than item 3006 ?

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

You sell your boots late-game for an item with a higher slot value since at that point cost efficiency matters less than slot efficiency.

Boots are an efficient source of movement speed and useful stats for the vast majority of the game, but you may as well replace them for something stronger at full build.

thats the opposite of what i suggest at first you say boots are extremely viable then you sell the boots for stronger late game option

I personally wont sell something that i think is very viable and if its not strong i would never buy it

Doing exactly what you say is waste of time and money which leads to cost deficiency because you sell that item to get better item (literally)

what i am trying to suggest is to keep the boots but to be able to upgrade it for late game not just to sell it and lose gold

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

The point you are missing is that you sell boots when you have already reached full build and cost efficiency no longer matters.

Arguing about the cost is pointless if you have already purchased everything you want to buy anyways.

If the game happens to reach the point you are at full build and have enough gold for another item, you lose ~500G swapping out your boots.

However, you only lose that gold at a point where it no longer matters since you have nothing to spend it on aside from renewing Elixirs and replacing items (which is exactly what selling your boots is).

In exchange for that possible ~500G loss (since most games end long before players reach their full build), you have a far stronger early, mid and late-game presence due the mobility provided by boots.

why would you think that buying boots will give you stronger early game? This delays better items that you would build

Mobility is extremely important.

Even if it doesn't seem like a noticeable amount, even an amount as small as 5 MS can be the sole thing which lets you:

  • Chase down a kill
  • Escape a pursuer
  • Reach a lane in time to gank/countergank
  • Avoid a skillshot by sidestepping it or slightly outranging it
  • Reach lane in time to freeze the wave or CS under tower
  • Rotate between objectives faster than your opponents

The difference in movement speed may appear small, but the results of it can be rather significant.

Champions have had their winrates drops by 2 or 3% when their movement speed is nerfed by 5 in previous patches.

People only do that in like 60 minute games where movement speed isn't as important because the next fight is going to determine the game.

Even then, movement speed can help ADCs kite easier in addition to running to the enemy nexus faster

People don't sell their boots insantly even if they have the money to do it. Selling boots is based on deathtimers, not gold.

Generally, you just sell boots for another item which provides movement speed in the last-game.

ADCs have item 3046 item 3087 item 3094 item 3085 Mages have item 3100 item 3285 AD assassins have item 3078 item 3142 item 3147 Fighters/Tank have item 3078 item 3742 item 3512 item 3800

if i am to buy these items i would not buy boots at all

EndlessSorcerer3 votes

Boots are extremely valuable for movement speed throughout most of the game.

By not buying them, you would just be leaving yourself at a disadvantage through the vast majority of the game. You'd only really "catch up" when people started selling their own boots, by which point gold isn't really an important factor anymore.

right now i will give you 1 item than beats all the boots item 3069

there are people like me that ignore boots because there are way better options than them

For instance who wins Ashe item 3087 vs Ashe item 3006

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Boots provide movement speed at all times and locations within the game and may be purchased by anyone (except Cassiopeia).

Talisman of Ascension provides an active which boosts movement speed for 3s and a situation movement speed boost near towers. In addition, it is realistically only purchased on supports since other roles have more efficient items.

They are not comparable in the least.

Bladerunner77771 votes

Ashe item 3006 wins because she will actually make it to teamfights/objectives in time

You look foolish arguing that boots are bad

Wolfram Oxford1 votes

I like the idea of giving upgraded boots, like we used to have, but what you suggest is give them way too much power. Perhaps just think about a MS buff, small stat buffs, and small passives.

SlashStriker1 votes

for instance why would you get that item 3047 if this item 2053 is X times better?
