Riot, the recent Shen nerfs could be a step in the right direction.
Reducing his damage made his laning phase weaker, undoubtedly. So how about instead of giving his damage back later, you up his scaling stats to make him feel more like a tank than an awkward bruiser.
Shen currently has the lowest potential scaling armor in the game, since the only two champions with lower scaling armor are Thresh and Gnar, whom are both compensated for it in their kits. He also has, for a health-stacking tank, pretty low scaling HP. I think these two stats could use some love, and I would gladly trade the Q damage for it.
Additionally, maybe we could consider the damage reduction being put back on his E so powerhouses like Jhin don't chunk him if Shen is using his W for something else, or if it's not up yet. That way, Shen can be rewarded for taunting correctly, he can be shut down and dueled against easily in lane, and he needs to pick his fights carefully, relying on his team for damage more than a 7% HP shred that falls off at the first purchase of MR.
What do you guys think? Do you prefer the tankier Shen to the bruiser one? Leave a comment with your own ideas, I'd love to hear them.
