Who would you say is hardest tank to kill in this game when they are fully built?

I know everyone will have a different opinion on this, but for me I feel like Nautilus is pretty damn hard to kill and Sion or Garen as well.

Rammus even since you pretty much kill yourself when attacking him lol

I personally don't find Nasus that hard to kill, he just has shit tons of single target damage unlike most tanks.

Imo the hardest to kill tanks imo are Sion Amumu Rammus

sion, cause he never dies.

Duelist style, Nasus > everyone Sion is a pain as well but lacks damage if you get his W shield down and is easily shrekt by Vayne Rammus runs a close second to Nasus though.

"Sion lacks damage"

900 base damage on ult 200 base damage on E 14% max health damage on W. (but you said if you get his shield down so lets ignore it) 100-300 damage on Q. with a 65-195% ad ratio

You need to be fully charged on his R to deal that base damage, but he uses it mostly at point blank during teamfights. His E is dodgeable, he doesn't build AD most of the time, and he doesn't have any penetration to speak of. The damage in his abilities is there, but it needs to connect. Sion actually does mostly magical damage with his sunfire, thornmail, and W. The damage is real, but it comes from the sources you don't expect. Overall though, a lategame Nasus takes a whole team to take him down and that's if he is alone. And he does way more damage than Sion. But your question is which tank is hardest to kill and for that I say Singed. You can't kill what you can't catch.

Sion bellows in the target direction, dealing magic damage to the first enemy he hits, as well as Slow icon slowing it and reducing its armor by 20% for 2.5 seconds.

"No Penetration to speak of"

Now that we've cleared that up, no, sion doesn't use his ult mostly at point blank, he mostly uses it at a small to medium distance to follow up on allied cc, if you only use your ult point blank as sion you are doing it wrong

Hard4Hamsters1 votes

Check a Sion game and check his damage dealt. He does mostly magical damage. That 20% reduction does more for your team than it does for Sion. It helps his ADC either by peeling off a tank or helps his other teammates catch up to a target. Sion does not build enough AD for his AD scaling abilities to do enough DPS (Q needs charged and his ULT needs to be active for 2.5 seconds I think to do full damage), particularly his ULT does not benefit from that 20% reduction in armor. So the only thing that you as Sion is going to get off after the E is a Q and an auto attack (Possible Tiamat Active if you have it). Sion does a lot of damage as a tank, yes. But so does Maokai, and you can't avoid most of his damage. The only time you're going to do more physical damage than magical damage is if you are going fighter Sion or full AD, and then you aren't going to have as much survivability. I'm not saying that can't work, but it's kind of a niche way to play him.

As for his ULT, what I meant is that he almost never has a full damage ultimate in the teamfight he can get a little extra by following up on ally CC if your team is the one engaging with a Leona all in or something similar, but if the other team is engaging on your carries, you use it at near point blank to provide a knockup and allow your carries to kite and deal the damage or after you take the enemy frontline, you use it to reengage the enemy team where your are more likely to miss. Related to that, as Sion you are going to be hitting the frontline more than anything when using your ultimate.

I'm not saying Sion isn't strong (he has a very high winrate). He has one of the strongest laning phases in the game and is strong in all phases in the game. Which translates into him becoming a massive tank, but he doesn't do a physical damage primarily, it's a large mix of magical and physical. I was only arguing that his damage sources come from a large amount of magical sources. As his (higher) physical damage is very avoidable.

MrPerson102 votes

You seem to think AD sion is a normal thing. It isn't. His damage is very dodgable, with his Q taking 2 seconds to charge to full damage, his E is a skillshot, his W is easily negated by simply bursting down the shield. Ult requires a full charge before it's at max damage.

He severely lacks reliable damage is what I should've said.

AD sion isn't a thing, building a black cleaver is very easy to do and doesn't make you that much less tanky, in fact, a BC is pretty core for him.

His E is a fast skillshot.

And look, if you are a good sion you don't use your abilities when they can miss, Sion is pretty shit at engaging, he's amazing at following up on engages, and making them devastating; say you're mid and team is hovering at dragon, the enemy team sees you pushing and starts to take drake, so your leona ults and catches three of them with a slow, you now run in and have about 3-4 seconds of free cc on at least one person, if not more.

MrPerson101 votes

Provided you already have a heavy hard CC engage like Leona or Alistar (particularly coupled with a Kalista ultimate), that works yes. If you don't, it doesn't work half as well as you're forced to be more of a meat shield in a poke war, where your damage is almost entirely avoidable.

Then you picked sion in the wrong teamcomp if you don't have anything to follow up on

This wasn't about a team comp, this was about eliminating a single tank.

Nasus is by far, harder to eliminate in a 1v1 than Sion is for the fact that Sion has avoidable damage and is (relatively )easily kited pre-death.

There are plenty of champions who can easily beat a full build nasus.

Trundle, Cass, Tf, Vlad, even sion could beat nasus in a 1v1 given he has the proper build for it. Even nasus cant do much against a 4k health 350 armor sion; who can shred up to 45% of your armor, and has an easily spamable shield for about 500-600 damage

MrPerson101 votes

I'm going to assume you're in low elo and have never actually tried a 1v1 of the two.

Full build nasus is going to shit on full build sion.

You want to W as Sion? Go ahead. Nasus AA + Q + AA = wasted shield, bye bye 80+ mana at max rank and a 13 second CD.

Want to Q for max damage, Nasus sidesteps. Q for less, he regenerates it.

Your E hurts, sure, but he's just going to regen on his next Q (2.4 seconds later)

Nasus regenerates health 10x faster than you can put out damage.

You can't hope to outsustain a Nasus in a full build 1v1, you can't take out his health fast enough with his low Q cooldown and stacked mana pool with his simple core build.

Okay let me actually explain something to you because you don't understand how to 1v1.

Sion sits back and waits for nasus to come up, after all when he's at range he has an advantage over nasus.

As soon as he moves into aa range you E him then pop your W, start charging your Q once he aas, or as soon as you land an E; full rank E is a 60% slow, nasus WILL get knocked up no matter what unless he uses ghost. (lets not account summs for this). Knock up nasus, attack him once or twice and then step away; nasus does have a slightly higher base MS than sion but that's not that important; he'll still be knocked up from your Q; furthermore, if you're itemizing to fight nasus you'll Have a build like, maybe this.

Warmogs, Randuins, Frozen Heart, Ninja Tabi, Thornmail, Black Cleaver Take 5% cdr from masteries and 5% from runes, take armor seals and pen quints as well as marks That will give him 40% cdr, 407 armor, and 3000 health; Sion will have maybe 500 healh on his W and nasus can have maybe 750 stacks? So that makes 4k~ health with 407 armor and 40% cdr. Your Q will be on a 3.5 sec cooldown, W on 7, E on 4.5. with 40% CDR

Nasus will also likely have a 40% cdr build consisting of Spirit Visage, Tri Force, Frozen Heart, Last Whisper, Black Cleaver, and Merc Treads.

This will put nasus at about 3300 health, 40% CDR, 200 armor (with runes) and 130~ MR.

With a full stack of BC and LW penetration Sion will have about 200 armor, -40 from Nasus E puts him at 160, which is a 160% increase in EHP; putting him (sion) at 9700 EHP; nasus with 750 stacks + 110 damage from the base damages 860 damage every 2.4 seconds.

Sion with his build will put Nasus at 110 armor, after runes that will be about 100 armor, which means nasus is at 6600 EHP; Sion will likely deal around 500-600 damage with each Q, coupled with a knock up.

With these builds Sion will also have superior health regenration and a strong shield (1375 EHP shield) That can eat 2 nasus Qs, and is up every 4 Qs after it pops, it also deals % health magic damage when it pops?

So yeah, if you actually think about it Sion is really good at dueling nasus, even when Nasus builds to fight against him.

MrPerson101 votes

I'm going to shoot down your entire argument with one simple statement from a platinum point of view.

Why in the fuck is Nasus walking up to Sion? He can farm, literally forever if he wants. farm to 20000 stacks and he'll delete your health without issue, Nasus will and does outscale Sion. Their playstyles do not match and the way you're depicting it is the exact opposite of what goes on - Nasus is a totally passive laner, Sion is not.

As for his shield? You're hilarious. 13 second base CD on sion's W after it pops. Max CDR is 40%. That leaves you at 7.8 seconds after it pops.

Please check your math.

edit: to add on to this, your math really sucks more when you mention Nasus at 3.5 second CD on Q.

I've never played a game where Nasus hasn't had 40%CDR from Frozen Heart, Spirit Visage (30% combined) and the remaining 10% form runes/masteries. That puts his Q at a 2.4 second cooldown.

I'm also questioning whether you've ever played a tank, ever, and decided that LW was a good option - particularly on Nasus who has free armor penetration from his E.

You're further missing that nothing Nasus does is strictly dodgeable, everything Sion does is.

Nasus has a mechanic to stick to you (w) while dealing AoE damage with his ult, armor penetration (e) and a massive stacking damage Q. He will delete a Sion in seconds, I promise you that.

I said 2.4% so much for your reading comprehension.

Also, sion has an infinite scaling mechanic too, he gets infinite health, sure hard to kill something when it has 10k health isn't it!.

And why does nasus walk up to you? so he can actually fight you.

You mention my elo in one of your posts despite op.gg, lolking and the lolclient showing you as unranked and mostly playing bot games (Inb4 this is my smurf, if it is, tell me your main acct and then play a game with poppy on it, a custom even, and then link me that account to prove you really are the rank you claim to be.). Furthermore, LW is an amazing item on nasus, it is better than any other damage item you could want on him. Why? Because the penetration increases his innate life-steal more than any other item could. Even a BT makes him heal less than building a Last whiper.

I'm being equally favorable to each champion, I'm assuming that nasus has gone for a tank shredder lifesteal build, and that's what he'd want if he does that, I assumed sion is only itemizing against AD, which I gave him the items for.

Sure at 10000 minuets when Sion can one shot the nexus five times over yeah Nasus will win, probably kill sion in one hit, but since most games only go to 40~ mins in soloQ. The idea that nasus is the 'best 1v1 tank' is just plain wrong. Sion can and does beat him at any time in a 1v1 before 50 mins.

But 1v1s aren't the point of league and not only does sion beat nasus in lane and in fights he is more useful as a tank.

You want my ranked account? Biissfui. Appears as Blissful. Platinum I, 0LP atm. Katarina main.

Nasus doesn't need to fight you, he'll just scale to the point of deleting you entirely. You can't scale your MR and armor infinitely as Sion, or on anyone for that matter. You can negate the base damage with your armor, sure. You won't be negating much of the 1k damage going through every 2.4 seconds from his Q, particularly when Sion has no innate sustain mechanic anywhere near what Nasus has.

Now, if you'd kindly accept the fact that you're fighting an argument that you're going to lose - step off.

you want to limit it to the first 40 minutes of the game, nasus still wins.

Sion can't effectively deny his farm without taking severe harassment, should be hitting 450 stacks by around 30 minutes, already completed Triforce and 40%CDR. More than enough to delete Sion in a small window of time.

Did you just say sion takes harass in lane from a nasus?

Bullshit.

You have no clue what you're talking about, Sion is a lane bully, he beats up on Mele top Laners and weak lane champs.

Why is he a lane bully? Because he has a shield that soaks a significant amount of damage, ranged poke that shreds your armor and relatively low mana costs on most of his abilities.

And you know what, I'll use actual sources to prove my point, note that this site doesn't say Sion beats Nasus (which he does easily, in lane in fighting and out of lane in usefulness). But it does show that Sion has a positive winrate against EVERY common top laner but wukong http://www.lolking.net/charts?region=all&type=top-matchup&range=daily&map=sr&queue=normal

Look at that, no matter how you look at it Sion has a positive winrate against anyone who matters.

MrPerson101 votes

I said he cannot deny his farm without taking harassment, learn to read.

Now who doesn't know what they're talking about?

Denying Nasus farm means zoning him out entirely. Early on, a Nasus Q still goes through your lvl 1 shield and then you take minion damage for doing anything damaging to Nasus. Great job, you already lost the trade.

Again, in a straight up 1v1, Nasus outscales and wins the match by a long shot through all stages of the game.

Sion provides more utility and a lot more to a team, yes. That's exactly WHY he has a positive ratio in all those specific matches. But yet again, you can't read enough to understand what a 1v1 means.

I'll make this really easy. Sion doesn't take minion damage when he uses his Q or E, because abilities don't draw minion aggro.

Sion doesn't take harass from Nasus because if Nasus hits Sion with a Q early on he WILL lose out on farm. Nasus Q at level one deals around 100 damage before resists (this is taking into account masteries, with penetration runes), Sions shield at level 1 is 84 hp.

Sion needs to have at least 16% reduction to have Nasus not break the shield.

25 armor is 20% reduction, Sions base armor is 23, you're telling me that with runes and Masteries Sion will not have enough armor to take a Nasus Q to his shield? He'll be taking minion aggro by the way, you wont, because as I said before. ABILITIES DONT DRAW MINION AGGRO.

Tryndamere is not a tank.

Pæan1 votes

I saw a thread a while back of someone claiming Tryn is a tank due to his ult letting him tank any damage at all for 5 seconds, which is more time than real tanks can survive nowadays.

MrPerson101 votes

Tryndamere is an AA based hypercarry, not a tank. At no point does a single mechanic outdo a tank (hi summoner 14 half way through trynd's ult) He's 100% reliant on AAs and balancing his rage-health ratio. The lower his health, the more AD he gets. The higher his rage, the higher his crit % upto a natural 35%. His job is not to be soaking damage but to be eliminating the backline with an E gapclose, W slow and AAs - hence his filling a fighter/assassin style role.

The measly heal afterward (3% after R ends) is taken in literally one AA from any AD carry. If he wants to Q afterward and has built AD, he's still not going to heal very much (all of 300 health)

Please find me a Rammus that dies in < 5 seconds, ever. Sion ? Sejuani ?

These are all tanks, Tryndamere is not.

I was just stating what the thread had said, not that I agree with it. I think the guy was joking, at least to a degree. Thankfully tanks are in a better spot with cinderhulk now, but one fed adc with item 3035 item 3153 will quickly drain anyone that isnt fed.

For sheer damage-soaking ability, Rammus with his bonus armor/MR and defensive ball curl means he's a monster tank that's hard to lay damage onto and attacking him probably hurts you more than him.

DrMundo is another right bastard to kill with his enormous pool of hitpoints and massive regeneration when he ults, which means if you don't have Ignite or Morellonomicon he takes forever to die.

Garen is an interesting case since while he's not as straight tanky as the others if he gets full build and survives a fight he'll be back to full health so quickly you won't have time to do anything before he's up in your ADC's face spinning and winning again. And again. And again. He's easily the most persistent of the tanks.

Either Nasus or tank jungle Cho.

Doge: Iceborn, Randuin's, Sunfire, GA, Spirit Visage, Ionian boots

Cho: Stalker's/Cinderhulk, Randuin's, Rylai's, ROA, GA, Swiftness boots, 6x Feast stacks

Nasus will have a ton of damage from the Iceborn and his Q stacks. When he can do 500+ damage from a single autoattack and restore 100 health every time he does that (and with that CDR he does that like 1 time every 2 seconds), plus ulting/Spirit Fire to melt squishies, it's sooo hard to kill him.

Cho can build tanky while getting a fair bit of AP, plus the 25% bonus health from Cinderhulk and the bonus health from Feast. Add in his CC and he's nearly impossible to get rid of.

I'm gonna go with Nasus Nasus. The past five games i played him i just focused on stacks and didn't care that the enemy toplaner was hitting me. My first item is always item 1055 so early game(lvl 1-4) i just straight up out sustain them. They'd keep hitting me and hitting me, getting more confident with each auto, then when i get to half health i turn my attention to them and go all out because they don't expect it. Smack them in the face with a Q to make them realise that they screwed up by getting that close to me so early, slow them so they need to change their underwear, burn the ground around them so they panic, then Q them again to kill them outright and get my stacks. Apply auto attacks liberally.

No need to recall cause of me passive and items and when he finally returns i'm fully health again and also about 5 stacks higher. You fall so far behind because of that 1 death you will be calling for help from anyone who can spare the time.

Speaking of, at lvl 6 the jungler will usually come and say hi, because they always love to gank nasus(regardless if he is fed or not), but then you ult and kill the one that does the most damage then take a dump on the other. Rinse and repeat. The midlaner usually comes and says hi at this point and that is when you just fall back under your tower and spam your dance or laugh. Believe it or not, nasus can 1v3 under a tower and come out with a triple or at least a double.

What other champ can tank 6 autos and still kill you with 4 button presses at lvl 3?
