If you have a cannon minion and its empowered with baron buff, it can stand outside of turret range and attack the tower, which is all fine and well, but if all the other minions are dead can the cannon walk up so your team can continue to attack the tower? As of now it'll stand outside and just throw attacks out, but if you go to attack the tower you'll draw aggro since the cannon isn't in range.
Cannon minion not walking up to tower is arguably stronger. In most scenarios it moving up to the tower means it can get picked off by the enemy team. It standing that far away means the enemy team has to leave the tower to deal with it.

Cannons sieging from outside turret range seems great on paper, but I rarely find it useful in practice. I'd rather have something tanking the turret while I can get in there and do something real.

ever seen a promoted and baron upped cannon? that shit is ridiculous. he can sit near the inner turret and shoot the inhib turret. :D
I would love that too, well at least could he apply the backdoor debuff ? He try to hit the turret but he himself deals 66% damage less.
Riot specifically remade the Baron buff so that it would obliterate bases, which I don't agree with by the way, but having it so the cannon minion attacks from outside tower range is part of that design decision so don't count on them changing this. Having the minion never get in turret range means the enemy team has to either expend a lot of spells to kill it or move closer to it which puts them in range of your own team which is the one that's been winning the game.
But I like using my on it so it can take the tower but its self!
