i would have thought juggernaut rework with morde tbh

the idea of putting him in bot lane where he gets bonus exp and gets a huge lead stomping games

I will second the Juggernaut Rework as the worst one in the history of the game. I still have flashbacks of only having three bans and four juggers that you desperately want banned. You would have to ban three of them and then pray, pray that the enemy team would get the last one and that, through some joke luck, you didn't just ban the same ones.

Skarner might have been worse than Morde though Morde was terrifying, especially in combination with a Zilean who used to just give flat bonus EXP. .-.; But Skarner post rework got up to some ridiculous winrate(I think it was like 65%) and he just ran you over in the jungle.

I was very active during the juggernaut fiasco, specifically in regards to Skarner.

I specifically said that he would be overtuned on release, and that he would get nerfed immediately. I also gave lots of reasons why it should have never happened in the first place. The lack of actual communication, discussion, and general involvement of the community is what made the juggernaut reworks (Skarner and Morde more so) the worst.

community involvement is exactly why skarner was busted on day 1 though

community involvement is exactly why skarner was busted on day 1 though

riot repertoir planned to put a 30% self slow on garens spin while he dealt damage to enemy champions (or it was even enemy units. im not sure anymore)...

the only difference would have been that the isolation damage on his spin would have been the standart damage, and the isolated spin damage increase wouldnt have existed.

the champion who had been shit tier at high mmr for 5 years at that time, because he was too easily kited was literally supposed to kite himself. people could have walked out of the spin with reliability even if garen made it up close. best case would have been that he awkwardly rubber bands back and forth on and off his moving target and loses half of the damage on the ability.

if the community didnt get involved, he would have been as garbage as skarner was overpowered on release.

so there is arguments for both sides.

Shahamut1 votes

thing is, community involvement was arguing for how Skarner was going to be super weak outside of his zones... which he was. They overtuned the heck out of his zones, as a response to our not being able to secure/hold our own passive without a winning team...

what do you know, he was too strong in those zones. Specifically, his jungle clear speed rivaled that of Shyvana who had the fastest clear time at that time. Super fast/safe clears plus his crowd control made him impossible to fight in jungle.

Also, it was seriously a week... People hadn't even learned how to play vs Skarner in less than 7 days. Once people started contesting and taking spires from him, he dropped right back off into non-existence. Because without those super fast clears, he had no real advantage in the jungle, even with his spires up.

EDIT: All this to say, that it simply PROVED that the spires were a failed design, which myself and many other Skarner mains stated from the beginning. You have no option but to try and ask for buffs when the change is going to happen whether you like it or not.

at no point after the juggernaut update was garen in need of a ban or too strong to the point of warranting a ban. he literally got one follow up change within two weeks, which was that villainy doesnt trigger on kills against garen anymore, and then didnt have to be touched for 6 month to a year or so at which time he was buffed and repeatedly had to be buffed practically every 6 month because he kept falling out of the game.

darius came weak out of the juggernaut update initially, and had slight tuning up and down the following patches. his entire kit didnt change from there on out, and over time he required more buffs than nerfs.

the time when darius was considered overpowered after the juggernaut update was the only time he was actually balanced in my opinion. he was an actual carry. a win condition for his team that you could build around. just like people had been building teamcomps around KogMaw or Twitch for ages. darius at the time was the actual teamfight threat and carry that he was intended to be.

the only problematic champions were skarner and morde at the time, and even they had been balanced out before season 6 started.

Man, that's an awful high winrate for someone who was "at no point in need of a ban." He had near a 54% wr around the time of the Jugger rework and his popularity was near 14%. He wasn't nearly as much of a nuisance as maybe Skarner or Morde but he was still problematic on rework.

Darius, like wise, did hit a 54% wr.

The juggernaut rework was an absolute clusterfuck. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either forgetful or biased.

i dont know how accurate leagueofgraphs is.

they throw normals and ranked games together into their statistics. id expect garen to be significantly stronger in those normal games.

even if he did reach those stats, it was only for a very short time. in contrast to riven and vayne who have the same stats right now for month already.

Ryze. They still haven't got it right after god knows how many iterations.

Probably the recent alkali one.

She's already getting nerfed again

Galio - destroyed his identity, removed the unique amazing skills everyone LOVED, and left him as an unbalanceable nightmare.

Agreed! I loved his passive and he was so good mid.

The leblanc revert was one of the most stupid ideas imo

Leblanc rework was the worst rework ever done on a champion that practically had the most fun kit to use in the game. And made many Leblanc mains quit the game like siv HD and the 12 years old Challenger Leblanc. They were prime example of the special side of the community, gems among them. Like Pinkwards who is an AP shaco one trick.

Galio

Skarner and Mordekaiser

Hands down.

IMO the Akali rework and the Galio rework.

Rengar.

Gets reworked because "one shotting from stealth is toxic" but Riot never deals with the real problem then after 2(?) Reworks he gets reverted back to his original state.

Champion should just be deleted honestly.

OneMustFall1 votes

Definitely Ryze. Took a fun, spammy champion and made him permanently unviable in solo queue.

Really hated the Kat/Talon reworks as well but at least they remained competitive and for the most part balanced.

worst rebalance? Revert of adc changes from 8.11 easily

Stashu's Cassiopeia rework for the Shurima event is a strong competitor. Riot admitted that Azir's release was rushed to make this event and although they never admitted it, it's pretty obvious this rework was also rushed.

It changed her main spell and reversed her power curve by tying a bunch of spell mechanics to a stacking ability that felt like her spells were neutered until an arbitrary timestamp and demanded you farm in a really awkward fashion. Basically you just started the match with half your AP ratios until the 30 minute mark, or if you did nothing but play solitaire with minions you could shorten that to the 25 minute mark. It didn't change her spells but still forced mains to play her completely differently, and focused on the reset mechanic that was still super clunky and unreliable.

Now we get to the strong evidence that the rework was blatantly rushed: There was a bug with her E reset that was caught and reported by players on both the PBE and live servers which could hurt her twin fang dps output by 20-40% and still made it feel as clunky as pre-rework when a major feature was to make it feel better (remember that this was supposed to be the new focus of the whole champion). Then Riot simply refused to talk or do anything about it for weeks, and then the only news they gave us was that, due to upcoming holidays and competitive matches, they would be unable to make any fixes to Cassiopeia FOR TWO MORE MONTHS. This left her with one of the worst winrates in League history for months while everyone knew it was partially due to a major known bug to her flagship spell.

I disagree, she was borderline unplayable garbage prior to the rework. The rework made her not only viable but insanely overpowered, even with the reset bug.

I easily stomped games with her as high as 85 LP Diamond I until she fell out of the meta in Season 6.
