I am so confused about this. Maybe I'm just slow, but is there a way to earn essences? Or does it come with the earnings from an S rating in a premade? I just don't understand how you earn what and where it comes from. Please help!

I got a ward skin sh and a highnoon yasuo skin card, I disenchanted the ward shard for some essence
