A message to all the people out in low elo ranked

I'm currently in gold 4 and there's a few things that people need to know:

  • I don't care what you think, whatever that pro is using isn't going to be as good as what you actually know how to play

  • please take teleport at top lane, it hurts the whole team if you can't tp into bot and their top can

  • please bring exhaust instead of ignite on supports, I'd rather die less than get more kills

  • when you get tilted please don't all chat that you're tilted so their jungler can camp you more

  • The team you have is playing to win, if we are trying to tell you things, we have good intentions (even if we come across as harsh)

  • think less about what you can gain, but more about what you have to lose

  • don't let the above point stop you from using and abusing a lead

Edit: this isn't me saying that these are the rules of the game, ignite is definitely useful vs champs like soraka. More often than not, I see ignite simply for kill potential.

It's not strictly about Teleporting into bot lane. Focus on side-lane control and quick ability to rotate toward objectives and fights across the map after the laning phase has ended are incredibly important.

Ignite is perfectly fine if there aren't going to be good targets to Exhaust later on in the fight. If you have a high-damage, high-kill-potential lane, exacerbating that can do you wonders. It's taken fairly often both in ranked and professional play, it's simply a matter of gauging which is going to be more worthwhile, and both of you playing around it.

The team you have is playing to win, if we are trying to tell you things, we have good intentions (even if we come across as harsh)

Except the intention when it's harsh is to make yourself look superior and make someone else feel bad about themselves, or even to cover up your own mistakes — not to actually help anybody improve. If you can't at least be neutral in your feedback, be quiet. Nobody's going to start playing better because you flamed them.

These are all so subjective...

Ignite is fine if you intend to dominate your lane. Just don't take ignite if you are just going to farm. Most people in low elo have no clue how to use tp anyway. And in bot lane, it's all about the matchup. Sometimes it's clearly better than exhaust. Always take ignite vs a soraka lane. To say "always take exhaust" shows that you don't really understand the concept of matchups.

Also in low elo, you can listen to teammates for the sake of communication (back ping, "let's dive bot", etc.), but NEVER listen to teammates telling you what to do. Your teammates are not going to make you climb. ONLY YOU are going to make you climb. Every game you need to have the mentality "my team isn't going to win this game. I'm going to need to win this game. If I don't win this game I'm losing elo, whether I deserve to or not." It's not fair, but it's league.

What if some champions benefit more from ghost or exhaust top side like Singed? In most cases yes, bring TP, but there are some exceptions.

  • please bring exhaust instead of ignite on supports, I'd rather die less than get more kills

What if their team is full of healers or has a Soraka? I personally would rather have the early grievous wounds from Ignite than try and Exhaust the sustaining ADC in that situation. Plus whats wrong about trying to securing a lead early and snowballing from there?

  • think less about what you can gain, but more about what you have to lose

I would rather die if it meant my team could secure an important objective, or if it meant my last auto got the trade kill. Sometimes you just have to sacrifice for your team to get ahead. If I have a bounty and so does their carry, and if we were to fight, we would likely both end up dead, but because my teammates are better overall, I would easily make that call and trade 1 death for 2-5 kills + maybe something more.

Other than those 3, the rest are solid points.

Pretty sure low elo people would go up multiple ranks if they learned 2 simple things. Don't overstay after inhib and don't fight 4v5 if your team is splitting

Teleport can sometimes be a noob trap, yes it might work in some situations, but some champs simply don't benefit from it, especially if they lack hard cc/mobility to get in place or prevent opponents from just walking away since it has a longass cast time, or really fast towerslaying. Wasting a telelport is like literally not having summoner, often times it also allows the opponent to just run down your tower so by not being able to telegank successfully you sometimes let your lane opponent catch up or you fall behind further, you're generally heavily at the mercy of your teammates coordinating with the teleport for it to be successfull in the early/mid-game.

Ignite/exhaust CAN be better if you're strategy is snowball your lane (very effective in matches where you straight counter your opponent on a champ that you're highly proficient with) and relieve pressure from the rest of your team that way since they will always need to send more champs to deal with your splitpushing.

They are both good ofc, the point is that teleport is not always the answer.

Then you tell me I have to take TP and exhaust...

Gold is low elo btw...so is Diamond.

Think less about what you can gain, but more about what you have to lose

Is this a joke about how you lose more lp compared to how much you gain?( yes I know what MMR is, though it seems to have no affect on my lp, as I constantly lose ~24 on average, while gaining ~18 per lose/win, weather my MMR is above or below average)

The team you have is playing to win

Yeah sure. My 0/7 Yas is playing to win. My Ahri adc is playing to win. My Lee that says "I dont care, dont even try" is playing to win. My autofilled teammate that says "I will troll, gg" in champ select win sure play to win.

Nobody in Bronze is going to use their tp to gank or help other lanes and if they try it's to a shitty spot or a shitty time 95% of the time. Hell it isn't even their fault they can't tp to a good spot half the time considering the only wards ever there are at the river bush (if even that).

Almost every time a bronzie roams to "help his team :D" it just ends up fucking up his lane so badly because he loses 4 waves to the turret, gets a kill maybe 20% of the time (Which doesn't even make it close to breaking even on what he lost) and just puts himself behind.

Take it from someone who smurfs there regularly.

Dear OP,

Please add the following suggestion:

Please use your summoner spells in fights.

Maybe this only pertains to bronze like me, but i've won countless games purely on the basis of me using the exh/ignite after lane phase ends and the opposing support not.

Vizulix4/29/2017, 12:56:46 AM1 votes

Dear Op,

Please add stop thinking you can charge headfirst into the enemy as Master Yi. No matter how OP you think he is, ignoring reason and charging in 1 vs 5 is bad. You will feed and you're team is not at any fault for not backing you up into the frontal death charge.

HalcyonDweller4/6/2017, 5:58:45 PM1 votes

I disagree on your second to last point, it's more applicable to tower dives than in general.

But the rest of it is really awesome advice!

I'd like to add my own:

  • When your teammates make a mistake, try comforting them instead of blaming them. It will make them more receptive to advice you might give after that.
Simplicate4/6/2017, 5:59:25 PM1 votes

These are all pretty vague but I just want to touch on the bits about summoner spells. it really doesn't matter what they take if they still don't know how to play with tp or exhaust to begin with.

LOL! Nearly every single point still happens and I'm D2 - don't think it gets any better!
