So a friend of mine wants to play support

A little context: I reached level 30 by playing bots with a few IRL friends. We all found ourselves liking certain champions and playstyles, but some of us had trouble transitioning into pvp. My friend has had the biggest, as some of us play more games than her (she's in class at the time. We're in college). Because of this, in pvp she (and she's admitted to it) is the weakest link. She has problems holding top lane (her favorite lane) due to not be used to junglers ganking her, and she has problems in bot as an adc since if she can't get kills she falls behind and becomes a burden.

She has played support a bit recently and has decided that she'd be better there (on the grounds of being less of a burden for messing up). So far she has played Kayle Karma and Sejuani in support. I recommended she learn Soraka as well for support.

Does anyone have any recommendations for supports? Her playstyle is more offense oriented than defense (Best example was when she supported her boyfriend. He plays defensively, so much so that she felt useless since they wouldn't engage) so I want to recommend supports that fulfill that purpose.

for more offensive, i would suggest Annie Leona

Seconding the Leona suggestion. She's pretty binary and thrives on playing aggro. Could also recommend Karma if your friend wanted to play a ranged, pokey champion. R-Q at level one onto their duo and you've basically won lane already.

Zyra is also a good aggressive support, and you can play Morgana aggressive. I'd also suggest Karma, but she's played her already. How did that go?

She's played Karma before and enjoys her. Though in my experience, the more champions you know for a role, the better off you will be.

Lulu and sona

Avoid leona

Why?

Leona is an all in support. If your ADC plays defensive and doesn't follow your engages, you'll just die for nothing. Engage is all Leona does.

Oh. Well her BF doesn't play ADC, he plays mid. She's better with more offense focused people.

Why?

People playing leona tend to think they are invincible, using e at any given moment which results in baiting their team into a bad fight. Not to mention the adc plays defensively

Let her learn the easier supports like sona first and if she liked karna she will like lulu

Tell her to try penetration full ap karma top. Lol

Sorc shoes, lyandries, void staff, rabadons, hourglass, and that item that takes away peoples mr I forgot its name.

But karma too was my gateway support. Shes very strong! Make sure she.gets ardent censor because if she.mantras and e everyone then gets attack speed from the items passive.

Also. Due to playstyle. I would reccomend your friend..

Sona. Morgana, nami, and lulu.

All pretty good poke supports.

I recommend you let her go back to the top lane if that's the lane she prefers. Be patient and help her improve. The support role can be just as difficult and you'll have to face ganks there anyway, so if she's doing it just to be less of a hindrance than she's doing it for the wrong reasons.

Also Velkoz can hold his own as a support as well and is fairly offensive.

I'd recommend Morgana. She can be played top as well (and also mid). You can play offensively with her, but you can also be passive if needed. She has a stun that can really help the ADC land hits, and a shield that is extremely useful if the enemy support is AP based and their team has CC since it negates those effects. She's easy to play as well.

Leona, Nami, Lulu, Lux. They can do both offense and defense.
