Why does Yasuo have a wind wall?

Shroom Junkie··7 votes·4,616 views

I mean, he does enough damage as it is. He has a 0.8 second dash(without CDR), a multi-target basic attack that applies on-hit effects to the first person so that you can Q-basic-basic-Q-basic-basic, and then a knockup on the third hit and an ult to initiate or follow up. Why does he need something that makes him dominate any ranged character? I mean, seriously, everyone who is ranged gets destroyed by him because he doesn't even care about ranged, he just blocks them with his wind wall until he kills you.

Remove or nerf the wind wall, please. Maybe make it block only one attack? That way he still has a defensive spell, but its not quite so overpowered as to block an entire kit of abilities that should kill him. Example: Lux Everything in her kit except R is blocked, and I'm pretty sure you can block her shield to secure a kill. Its completely overpowered and makes all ranged champions that fight him basically null unless he isn't there.

rofl he actually needs some of the health nerf reverted, also his windwall is on a huge cooldown

Doesn't matter if the wind wall is on a huge cooldown. Throw up a windwall after a ranged enemy commits? Wam, they're useless and you just got a free kill. Then you can just run to tower if there are other ranged champs, or heck, just throw a tornado and ult into them. Big advantage right there of probably half health and then you can just take them down from there.

this is the perfect example of how listing a champs positive sides only make him sound OP.

hey theres a champ with 7 abilities, %current and %missing HP dmg for easy bursts, a stun, a gapcloser that can easily dodge massive amounts of dmg, inert heal and a huge attackspeed steroid and a heat seaking nuke. sound op heh? 40% winrate, considered garbage in every elo+competetive.

yasuo is NOT op. he has 47.5 winrate, hes not a good pick, hes on the low end of possibly beeing viable. he does NOT need a nerf. he has a high skillcap, he is easily snowballed on, he has bad mobility because he needs a minionwave, and he cant dash defensively in almost every situation, he has a bad early, etc etc etc.

he'd be the worst champ in league if you remove/hard nerf W

but silver 5 gotta be salty i guess

To be fair, Elise was a top pick in competitive since her release, up until this season. She's only bad now because she got nerfed like 10 times.

Yea but despite having the same positive sides shes not op anymore. Same goes for yasuo.

I didn't say he needed a nerf in general. I said his W needs a nerf. Literally, the damn thing makes almost every ranged attack innate(minus Xerath, Lux's ult, etc. as BlunterMonk stated). I mean, what the hell? He can literally cancel an Ezreal, Jinx, or Ashe ultimate with it, ignore the entirety of a Veigar all-in by windwalling before walking into a stun(assuming he does walk into it), and dashing out of his W before it even hits. Obviously Veigar could level his E first but that makes his W almost useless besides a small amount of damage. Destroys every single Ahri ability, Katarina Q(and possibly ult, not sure), Cassiopeia Q, all ranged champions' basic attacks, Corki ult, Mundo Q, Brand Q, Braum Q, Caitlyn Q, E, and ult, Annie Q and W, Ezreal Q W E R and basic attack(basically, makes Ezreal literally useless except in close range in which he's most likely outdamaged even if fed), maybe Evelynn Q, haven't tested it out, pretty sure Fizz's ult, Gangplank Q, Gnar Q(Small and Mega forms)(and keeps him from grabbing it to reduce cooldown, as its deleted), Gragas Q and ult, Graves Q and ult, Heimerdinger turret shots and W, Janna E, Jayce Shock Blast(Gun form Q), Jinx basics as well as Q rockets and W.

Yeah, need I go on? That was ALMOST everything from characters in alphabetical order of A to J. He cancels everything that isn't AOE-long-range abilities like Lux's ult or Xerath's Q. Its fucking nuts and I don't see why its even here. Reduce the damage? Okay. Remove one ability? I'm cool. STOP EVERY FUCKING RANGED ATTACK THROWN AT HIM? NO. LIKE WTF.

they alrdy nerfed him like 100x when he first came out and people still cry damn

It was included to give him counterplay against ranged champions since he is melee. But I agree that it needs serious nerfing. Heck, if it just blocked 50% of ranged damage, it would be OP.

Because CertainlyT designed Yasuo as a Melee ADC with utility. As in, he's a carry that will stomp when he's ahead, but not be worthless when he's behind.

Then the balance team had to gut his numbers into what he is now.

Wait, they gutted him? ... What kind of living hell was he before?

Yasuo (like Jinx) has a horrifically overloaded kit, and thus is a giant ass. That said, he IS (ever so slightly) less annoying than he used to be.

I think riot develops champion based on ideas and concept that's their main priority and purpose, after that they force or come up with balancing strategies. And by force i mean they are stubborn as fuck when something isn't working they force it in anyways. ( Bard )

On that note he needed a defensive move vs ranged targets and while technically it's kinda difficult to pull the wind wall just at the right time a well timed one can make other champions obsolete.

Mandang01 votes

because it's wind., and riot totally couldn't have made it any other kind of wall by simply changing the particle, so it's thematic now... kappa

The problem is that players can't separate cool concepts from coherent design. Yasuo is a hyperscaling carry who is given a fallback mechanic through all the utility in his kit. That's a terrible design. And before people get on me about how bad Yasuo feels, or how he becomes useless when behind:

1) Numbers are separate from design - you can have overpowered champs who have good designs and you can have trash champs with poor design 2) Which other melee champion attempts to rush an attack speed item in a losing lane? You're asking to become useless if you do that on anyone, not just Yasuo.

EDIT: I would just like to note, I've seen this idea before and it got an upvote score of 10+. But guess what I'm Silver 5 so fuck me. xD

So you have a link to go with your claim right? OR is it from an ancient thread way before yasuo got nerfed?

I have no link, and it was only a few months ago. If you want proof so badly go back in the thread history and look yourself.

I did. In GD and G&B there isnt a single Yasuo thread that suggest nerfing windwall with upvotes. That's the only reason I am asking because this thread with 10 upvotes saying nerf windwall doesnt seem to exist. If you are curious the oldest one is 8 months old.

Yes, well, I haven't even played League for 8 months so that's kind of impossible, unless somebody just happened to plant fake memories in my brain.

Or you are just lying about it which is most likely the case. I get that you wanna believe you are getting downvotes for being silver 5 but one of those threads is by a guy who was gold with -9 so it looks like rank doesn't seem to matter here. Next excuse pls.

You claim the thread exist yet can't provide a link and the search function only contains Yasuo wind wall nerf threads with downvotes this year. If it was only a few months ago then it would be there since The oldest possible thread from a year ago is 8 months old. Were you hoping someone wouldnt actually check?

I personally cannot find it in my post history, so I'm going to assume my memory is whacked and it doesn't actually exist. But, this still isn't the first time its happened. I've reposted ideas I've seen before, probably about twice, and the same thing happened. No I cannot find it, don't ask.

And, either way, even if it doesn't exist, my argument still stands as well as Strawberrycocoa's. It blocks every single projectile, ever(Projectile, not like Xerath's Q or Lux's ult). And to assume that an assassin/fighter, even if it doesn't move or happen to give a slight movement speed boost, blocks every projectile as a tank's ability which is meant to stop projectiles from reaching squishies only blocks ONE. One simple projectile, even while moving and giving a slight speed boost, is a smaller area to block and only blocks one. Granted it reduces the damage, but why doesn't Yasuo's do that? I mean, it would make sense for wind to simply slow a projectile and lower the damage, right? Why does it have to block and delete every fucking projectile in the game? Its OP and, for an assassin/fighter, it makes absolutely no sense to be here. Especially sense he already has an escape with his constant dashes. Even in the jungle, he can just dash over a wall through a minion to get away, and if ganked he can just dash through somebody. Why does he need to block every fucking attack too?

Here's a thought:

Braum's projectile shield performs a comparable function as Yasuo's wind wall, and is just as useful for defending allies as Yasuo's.

Braum can only block 1 projectile, the remainder deal reduced damage.

Yasuos gets to block ALL projectiles during the duration.

The Assassin has a stronger anti-projectile skill than the Tank. Why is this?
