Yasuo's wall really shouldn't block projectiles that hit it from the side

L Psy Kongroo··57 votes·2,312 views

Maybe from the rear is fine, but definitely not from the side lol. That makes absolutely zero sense; Yasuo should not be rewarded for firing what is, for all intents and purposes a skillshot, in the wrong direction. The wall should block only what intersects it from the front (and possibly the back depending on how generous Riot is feeling).

Yasuo's wall is his only failsafe for one he messes up. If I'm running away from ezreal or jinx will 10 hp and they ult and I winwall, than it's how it should be. The only reason people are crying about it is because they didn't kill him while he was back away.

I mean there are plenty of annoying champs in the game. How do you think melee champs feel about ezreals stupid kiting?

And his passive shield... And his Phantom Dancer...

Yasuo is probably the safest assassin in the game.

His passive shield isn't a fail safe, it's there so he can survive lane with his shit base stats.

The wall is his op defensive tool that every melee carry has.

Yi has meditate.

Trynd has his ult

Fiora has parry

Jax has his dick spinning

Etc

JavelinJoe2 votes

Shit base stats??? He has up too 50% free crit chance, a passive shield that recharges by moving around and lasts for a second when consumed, a negate every inconvenient "projectile" ability (besides tower shots), 50% bonus armor pen on crits, AND no costs to any of his abilities.

He has so much in his kit that "low base stats" should not even matter to him.

True, his is definitely more versatile, but tbh riot wanted it to be that way.

Their logic in making yasuo was making a viable melee carry. To that effect, his wall is utility to use when behind, so he isn't as feast/famine as other melee carries

what about Talon Khazix and Rengar. Talon jump over wall after wall. Khazix Jump away, over walls and invisibility. Rengar If you can't kill the player after you ult, than you probably should play him

Not agreeing with the post about Yasuo, but just like to say that Rengar is probably one of the most unsafe assassins. Rengar does what he has always done, dive in and hope you get a kill and hope you don't die. Please Rito fix this problem.

Rengar shouldn't even be factored into this discussion because he isn't an assassin anymore.

That comes from his players mostly being dumbasses and playing recklessly once they get a kill thinking they can 1v5 now.

you forgot to mention his AOE knock-up.

DunkinNoobs2 votes

He's safe compared to champs like Kled, Riven, and Fiora? Please pass some of whatever it is you're smoking.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Well, Kled, I'd give him. Kled has one escape, and it's usually used to initiate a fight.

DunkinNoobs2 votes

Are we pretending that Kled's passive and typical builds don't exist?

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Kleds passive saves him from being literately one-shot (as in taking the entirety of his HP from one source). When he loses Skaarl, however, he can only go in. Running away is impossible without both summoner 4 and summoner 6.

And his builds are irrelevant. Anyone can buy and utilize the items he does, barring obvious exceptions such as AP users (No ADCassiopia. Ever. Please) or ranged champions (can't buy hydras).

DunkinNoobs1 votes

You underestimate how useful not being 1 shot is. You also cant just dismiss builds. Anyone can obviously build anything they want, but not everyone can build whatever they want and still be effective. Kled builds very tanky and is still effective. Yasuo is not the same, nor is Riven.

PermabannedGaren1 votes

Stop implying that being able to heavily invest into defensive itemization while still doing your job makes you safer gawd

Troll for Trump2 votes

Fiora's Q can't be used to disengage. She really only has Riposte.

Jax has his EQ, which, if he uses that to engage, he misses all the dmg.

Riven has more escapes than him, yes.

Kled, no. Kled I don't think is a skirmisher either. He has his Q in mini form basically.

Yi has his R and maybe Q.

When other champs use their escapes, they tend to be losing something.

Yas's shield is passive, his E actually gets increased in damage the MORE you spam it. His W is the only thing he "loses," but his W doesn't actually contribute to his DPS, so using it doesn't lose really make you lose out on damage.

DunkinNoobs2 votes

{quoted}

Fiora's Q can't be used to disengage. She really only has Riposte.

That little bit of distance absolutely can make the difference, and she can also ult and use that speed boost to escape.

Jax has his EQ, which, if he uses that to engage, he misses all the dmg.

He also has his ult and tends to build tanky, especially nowadays.

Kled, no. Kled I don't think is a skirmisher either. He has his Q in mini form basically.

His passive, dash, and ult also exist and his Q makes chasing him difficult since it will CC you if you do.

Yi has his R and maybe Q.

And his W.

When other champs use their escapes, they tend to be losing something.

At least they have one.

In terms of escaping being focused, Yasuo is easily the weakest of the bunch. Every single one of those champs is more likely to escape a 1v2 scenario unscathed than Yasuo is. Every person who thinks Yasuo is safe seems to live in some fantasy world where the enemy always ganks when you have a massive minion wave to dash in and manages to pick 2 champs with no reliable CC. Of course Yasuo seems safe in that situation; any melee carry champ would be. But in the real world, nearly every other squishy melee will have a better chance of surviving, especially the more bruiser oriented ones like Jax and Kled.

He's a Skirmisher, not an Assassin. Skirmishers and Assassins are a subclass of Slayers. Saying Yasuo is an Assassin is like saying Vlad is an Artillery Mage. Sure, both Artillery Mage and Battlemages (which Vlad is) are subclasses of Mages, but you can't use the terms interchangeably.

ReZisT Lust1 votes

why didn't u run towards jungle as he dashes thru creeps its safer lol

Jerry SeinfeId2 votes

this isn't always an option but you're right.

thing is it's kinda dumb to say, that's just how it should be.

aiming a global ult across map isn't easy, when someone can just press a button to block it they should atleast have to fucking aim it to the right side.

and he made it seem like "i'm already running away so it's fine", as if every champ vs any champ has that option.

ReZisT Lust1 votes

did you check with your mid laner to see if he already used his windwall or are you just randomly shooting it without info cause he could just as easily flash it

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

no, most of the time i don't take the time to ask my midlaner if yasuo used his wall before shooting it. Hell, my midlaner most likely won't even know the cooldowns on it anyway.

i was just poking fun at how he said if he was already running away and a champ uses an ability designed for catching runners/sniping it doesn't matter that it gets blocked and they shouldn't be dissapointed they didn't get the kill. because: "that's just how it should be." and the fact that he said yasuo deserves the wall because it's what helps him get out when he fucks up lmao where's my wall when i fuck up as jinx? i even need to deal with arm time on my snare.

Jinx is my most played champ, missing an ult feels bad but it's like "ah shit i suck". seeing a yasuo pull up his wall at the moment of impact, just to make it disapear just doesn't feel fair. So he should atleast be aiming it at my rocket.

i really didn't think about the comment that much and didn't expect to have to explain myself lmao. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

ReZisT Lust1 votes

You should make it a point as to ask your fellow laner about whats used cause they could know the cds, like for instance I know yasuos wall is like 14ish seconds long so and if someone asked if he used it I could just say "it should be up by now." or something like that. Jinxs' wind wall is her traps. Iv played jinx a bit too shes fun, I don't really ever shoot at yas until I know for sure hes got his wall down cause you can never be too sure. eh I'm a tight ass when I wake up lol*[slayer-jinx-wink]*

"He needs it tho! What if I'm fleeing at 10 health and need to block an ult!?"

This is why everyone hate you, Yasuo players. This self-entitled line, right here. "What will I do if-" You'll die to the Ez ult, that's what you'll do. Like every other champ in the game who doesn't have a freaking wind wall. You don't "need" wind wall. You WANT wind wall, because it's easy to throw down and cockblock half the shit the enemy team will throw at you. No one else can do that... but they seem to get by. YOU want it though, because it's immensely strong, so you go on about how you "NEED" it or you'll be crap. You already have a spammy dash and a regenerating shield to mitigate poke... but you NEED that wall too or you're crap? Fuck that spoiled baby bullshit.

Yasuo does not NEED windwall. In fact, it's the reason for a LOT of the hate he gets... if you really want to play your fav champ again, you should be pushing for Riot to ditch wind wall and give him something else less obnoxious to play against so people will stop permabanning him. Saying he will only ever be balanced with Wind Wall is both wrong, and an insult to the game devs. If every other champ can be balanced without a wall that shuts down ranged attackers, why can't he?

Because you're a spoiled brat who doesn't actually care about the game being balanced or the enemy team having fun, as long as you can spam mastery after throwing down wind wall the wrong way and STILL accidentally blocking an ult that would have killed you.
