Miss Fortune - AD Caster or Crit build?

Miss Fortune is one of my favorite ADCs to play. She's relatively easy to play and her strengths and weaknesses are clear. Sadly, I haven't been having much success with her the past few days. She gets outscaled so heavily and her ultimate feels a bit underwhelming? If I wanted a teamfighting ADC with lots of AoE, I'd just go Jinx+ Runaans.

Just recently came back from a 4 month hiatus so can anyone tell me how this ADC is doing? Also, can anyone explain what is the lethality stat? I know it has something to do with armor pen.

thanks MissFortune

A glance at probuilds seems to indicate that some go for crit, and some go for arm pen (lethality) builds, and also that support MF is still resonating after sup MF was a thing at worlds. I think she's still strong as a lane bully and works well for wombos, but it's mostly cait/vayne/ezreal/jhin that show up right now.

As for lethality, it's basically scaling armour pen that scales with the targets level, and replaced flat armour pen on items. The issue with flat armour pen was people (adcs probably being the main culprits) were able to rush enough of it to essentially start doing near true damage, and that let them get kills, which let them get even more pen on top of a gold/xp lead, and so those getting snowballed on couldn't really stop it. Lethality since it scales with the targets level, gives people behind a bit more chance to catch up without being chunked with true damage AA's.

Theres more lethality on items than there was flat armour pen, and the scaling is such that at level 18, 1 lethality=1 arm pen. This basically means that armour pen items are weaker early game, about the same mid game (level 12ish if I recall), and stronger late.

Crit is so strong in general on ADCs that you can't go wrong with that. But I like to play her more as an AD caster. Make Q hit as hard and as often as possible. The same with her ult.

depends who you're against and who the threats are imo

the pen build is defiantly stronger early/mid game, while crit build is better late.

From an objective standpoint, I don't see why you wouldn't go the pen build if you're going to play mf for the teamfights and ult, as you said, other adcs do the crit build better

Lethality is some flat pen + pen depending on the enemy's level. Flat Penetration Amount = 0.4X + [(0.6X * Y)/18] X is Lethality, Y is target champion level

So what does this mean? Let's unravel this formula, using Youmuu's Ghostblade, which gives 20 Lethality now. 0.4 * 20 = 8. So you always get 8 Armor penetration, no matter what 0.6 * 20 = 12. This is the versatile part, since it's multiplied by the enemy champion's level, and then divided by 18 (the max level). This formula effectively gives you more armor penetration the higher the level of the target is.
