advice to every non jungle main finding themselves in the jungle role.

Very Hard Engage·12/11/2017, 1:34:52 AM·19 votes·1,854 views

im mid/jungle, if anyone knows how to gank mid lane its very very very easy.

rule number 1, do not gank from the brush.

rule number 2, take the path closest to raptors/wolves and come at them from behind.

want to do anything different? WRONG! it doesn't work! only a few exceptions can do it, like lee elise, khazix or evelynn. do you know why? because THEY can show up wherever they please, you... on something like xin, or udyr, volibear, skarner, whatever your preference is, anyone who is slow moving or lacking a gap closer. YOU NEED TO SHOW UP BEHIND THEM, NOT RUN RIGHT AT THEM.

i see this too often from my junglers. STOP RUNNING STRAIGHT AT THE ENEMY MID LANER.

FLANK THEM. here is a visual representation of a flank

this is a good gank. it will force them to use summs just to get on top of you so you're still whacking them, or you get a free engage onto to them with your abilities like some CC ability, their summs will not get them out of this situation.

now, heres the average "gank" that i have to deal with.

this is wrong on so many levels, but ultimately you are the jungler, you are the one starting the engage, if i do anything abnormal i tip them off, only if i flash in unexpectedly do i have a chance to make anything happen, this is where you come in as the jungler, just by showing up, you command their summs, now if you take this route, thats all you're going to get. as they have the means to CC you or escape from you with ONLY BASIC ABILITIES, thats right, you waste everyones time if you dont at least command their summoners, which they will not need if you try running right at them. this can only work conditionally, pending the right matchup or their summs are down and are a mobility-less champion like karthus.

FINALLY, when the enemy mid laner is overextended (this is beyond the brush line, either up on the flames, or auto attack range or under your own turret)

THIS IS OVER EXTENDED. THIS IS FREE FOR YOU. if you are in this big BUTT red circle, you either finish off a low hp camp using smite. or you immediately take the shortest route to the X's (to cover) or the check marks and you TAKE YOUR FREE KILL.

if you take the X route it scares them off, this is also acceptable for you clearing the wave and saving the turret with no mid laner in it to take it, or to cover for them while they back.

(if you are at gromp or golems you dont have access to this lane, unless youre something like hecarim with mobis, then its out of reach for you, but red/blue/scuttle distance is very doable for you, it takes roughly 15seconds to close the distance and they aren't going anywhere)

((in this lane situation you are supposed to be making the effort to come to this lane because its so lucratively favorable for any jungler to just start whaling on a squishy ap mid laner from this position))

ultimately you miss 100% of these free situations because you value some other nonsense thing like taking a camp, or thinking to yourself "i cant gank them, its not opportune for me, im below 4/5ths my health, if he used literally everything on me i might die"

i can assure you pre 14~15minutes your presence from any of these positions will net you the kill, 100% of the time.

when you FLANK them you pull off a great gank. but heres the issue, YOU weren't watching your minimap, YOU IGNORED your pings, and YOU DECIDED your farm was more important than A FREE KILL.

This is good advice, but quite aggressive o_o

TLDR: in the scenario that you can actually kill the guy in a 2v1 vs him when u arrive .. then the op is 100% true

if you ignore the state of the hp and resource bars, cooldowns, items, player skill, of all player involved, then everything in the OP is true.

but as jungler you also need to pay attention to the HP, the items of the enemy, how strong they are, and what yoru champion can provide.

for example... if the enemy can 1v2 you.. becuase of your HP bars.. then dont gank ..

if of ally has no mana as a mid laner can cant help you.. then its just a 1v1 which may or may not going in your favor based on skills

for example..

if the enemy has a full hp Darius top lane with all abilties off cooldown, and my laner is at half hp with no mana.. with no ulti.

then as a Nidalee who gets hardcountered by darius. IM NOT GOING TO GO IN. i can't 1v1 darius and i have determined that in that senario we cant 2v1 him either.. so SHUT UP WITH YOUR DAMN PINGS!!!

i dont care if the enemy XinZhao is at 33% hp and im at full, im playing nid, im not going to get on the same screen as him...

yes everything the OP said is 100% correct, but ONLY if you can ACTUALLY kill then guy from said gank.

if you fed youe enemy laner a 2k gold lead, and your at half hp wiuth him at full, i cant stop him... even in a 2v1.. sorry dude your going to need more backup than just me, im not coming to try to help kill him.. may come to get him off you.. i make come to make sure he wont tower dive you.. but I'm not going to try to get the kill.. and if u getyourself killed by going in when i arrive... that's your own fault

I usually try to stay away from the jungle role because it is my weakest position, but I will take this advice into consideration the next time I find myself in that situation.

I only flank for aggressive plays. When my laner is at a clear disadvantage, the fastest route to the fight is the most optimal. Even if the opponent laner can escape with basic CC, it saves your laner from the crippling death they were about to face. I experience this a lot when a Yasuo opponent has great lane control mid, and I jungle Rammus. Many of my ganks aren't as offensive as they are a way to flex on the Yasuo and keep him from engaging at all while my laner can gain his/her bearings.

So where you say- don't gank from bushes, you might change your mind if your jungler took an extra 7 seconds to establish your suggested route and you died in the meantime and leave your jungle struggling to peel from a bad vantage point.

Farm is more important then a kill

xxxDogmanxxx12/11/2017, 12:54:42 PM1 votes

As long as you path in such a way that when you get into the lane, you are directly between the enemy laner and their turret, it is a decent gank with a high chance of success.

Problem is this: The mid already has 2 kills, and you're a squishy. Your allied midlaner is a Zed, and you don't have any instant hard CC. Mid is pointless to gank.

Or you need stacks for your Kindred/Rengar passive, runes, or whatever, and you can't get what you need from mid. Or you see a better opportunity top/bot. Or you can easily take drake...There are many reasons.

It's not about one lane. It never is. It's about all 3 lanes and jungle.

Better advice: Don't gank mid lane.

Mid: Can you please come kill this Yasuo? Me: [sg-ahri-3]

Timers: 45 seconds until dragon spawns. Me: [sg-ahri-2]
