Going full-tank lategame is beyond useless you can have 4k health with about 300+ armor and the enemy ADC (Coughs Vayne/Tristana) will just obliterate you in a matter of seconds.
When you have literally all tank items and in about 6.5 seconds you take 2500+ physical damage from basic attacks you know goddamn well your build is aids.
Never plan on going any tank-only champs that aren't support until they're made better then bacteria.

I just had a game where I was 16/1 cho gath and I 2v5ed the entire team while everyone focused me and we weren't that ahead at the time. They can buy blade of the ruined king and items like that but so what? their going to buy an item just to focus the tank thats beyond stupid. The longer the game goes the more tanky you get more so then damage built by the enemy. Even if your behide tank builds are fairly cheap and only require a fair amount of cs to keep up with damage dealers. Also, yes amazing you do die if the entire team focuses you for 5-10 seconds depending on how tanky you are but thats 5 people not doing damage to high prioity targets for 5 whole seconds and 5 seconds in a team fight is a lot of time. Tanks builds tanky to engage and to do aoe damage in team fights with high base damage

Roll into the middle of a teamfight, press R, press W, and then spam your taunt.

A game of full damage dealers will get SMASHED by a team with atleast 2 bruisers or 1 ultra tank. A tank/ 2 bruisers are so imporant they can by no means be deleted from the meta and not just of the initiation part of their job because there are some ap mids who can do the tanks job of iniitating better then the tank like lissandra. The reason you need this is because of aoe damage and survivability. A team with only direct damage will get deleted in team fights and if there are no tanks to protect the direct damage dealers then they will get deleted even faster. The job of like renekton is to pose a giant threat to the enemy adc/apc so they are FORCED to attack renekton and if they don't they will die meanwhile he doing damage to everyone around him as he attacks the adc because of his massive aoe damage so by the time renekton dies he did a lot of damage to the entire team and made the adc attack him and not his valuable targets. This gives his valuable teammates the freedom of dealing damage with a lot less danger.
Also, theirs the fact that if you pick a full damage dealing team the enemy will just pick fiddlesticks and get a very easy penta.
