Ekko is one of the worst champions in the game now.

He has a win rate about equal to s4 Urgot in all positions.

The only reason this isn't receiving more attention is because there's even lower win rate trash tier champs.

Why?

He's one of the worst designed, I'll give you that.

because of his terrible design, his numbers are severely undertuned. However, he is also not a 1v5 pentakill type of champion the way certain other releases have been which is a minor plus. I've always felt Ekko was pretty fair, IMO. He is hard to kill but he's also not a huge damage threat until you are low.

Then if we agree he is poorly designed, a power shift, rework or mini-rework is more needed than a flat buff.

not sure what Champ you are playing, but the last time i played him i had no trouble whatsoever with killing people + a good stun is enough to win a teamfight, even if you just dance instead of fighting - His kit is just horribly overloaded still.

the only thing they should change is his Q ratio the damage of the first hit is laughable

I saw an ecko lvl 3 first blood a brand

but melee mids are awful.

Honestly, I think they started balancing him for the jungle (and occasionally top lane?) rather than midlane.

Gonna be honest with you, he's a little weak right now. He was much stronger in the jungler before the ADC itemization rework.

But I think it's fine he's more balanced for the jungle. His kit is much more suited for it (the telegraphed stun has a high cooldown, his Q is reasonably easy to dodge on the return trip, his E brings up into melee range but removes the escape if used offensively, ultimate is telegraphed and cannot be free-aimed and therefore requires setup). If we were at the point in the game where his jungle role was balanced, but his midlane was suffering (which was the case before, not right now because of the ADC stuff and mastery changes?), I wouldn't recommend a straight buff but rather a power shift to prevent his jungle role from being outright overpowered.

I agree. He should be a top laner or jungler rather than a mid. A power shift away from his Q (15% lower ratio on return) and towards his W (10% higher ratio on shield, 1 second lower delay) and maybe +5 base AD, +0.5 AD per level growth and +3 base armor would make him pretty good as an AP assassin or hybrid bruiser top, or as a tanky/bruiser jungle.

He simply doesn't have the tools to play mid. He can win lane, but he can't win game due to his low reliability and need to go melee to do much. If you put him jungle or top, he can build tankier and have the reliability of point blank Wing and then facetanking people.

You might be right about the top lane thing, best ekko world prefers top though builds him as full ap and sometimes replaces boots for a deadmangs.

that Q change would gut him

Champs like azir ekko who have high skillcaps and moderate skillfloors generally have low winrates

ekko also has lots of counterplay to his kit as well much like azir does.

not sure that Q change would gut him. Ekko is primarily an early gamer. Higher base stats are more important than scaling for Ekko, especially since Lich Bane and Runeglaive scale with base AD as well as AP and the majority of Ekko's damage is actually from Sheen items, his 2 passives and Ludens, I believe.

By ludens you mean nashors right?

ludens is not good on ekko anymore

morellos is better early and mid and nashors outscales ludens late game.
