@Meddler: What kept Veigar out of the Immobile Mage update?

Veigar's unique, but has several gameplay points that I'd argue aren't very fun.

Firstly, his passive is just "extra mana regen when low", when you could make that far more dynamic. Also, said passive doesn't entirely fit his design of "The Black Mage Yordle", as it doesn't add anything to his "KABOOM" mechanics and just adds some extra resources for him to use (BORING).

Second is that his kit pretty much is just damage, damage, and more damage, with a weird stun/anti-dash mechanic that is now unreliable on its own. Beyond that, he's pretty binary: either get fed on farm (or kills), or do nothing.

Third is that he is both SLOW as molasses, and has unreliable range. This limits the number of compositions he can be in due to his lack of reach.

That sounds like prime material for an update/rework, so why was he kept out of the MYMU?

Because they kicked him into the dirt and left him to die after they saw him ruining their LCS big plays. Now his play rate is back down to the lowest quartile and they will ignore him for at least another year. Welcome to LoL. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

That being said, I will enjoy playing against the new AP mid in about 2 weeks.

Because veigar is heinously broken without a full rework. So it comes down to veigar or his opponent will be having fun but the other won't with the way his current kit jives.

Champions outside 'top 6' still have chances to get some changes.

they already gave him lots of attention in season 5. mostly to immediately remove him from pick/ban status for his stun alone as a support (had he been a mid mage im sure this wouldn't even have been a problem)

"DFG removal compensation"

and then they repeatedly buffed him for 4 patches straight to up his win rate from 37% to a somewhat reasonable 47% (what he already was pre 5.4)

and then the final "over the top" change was AP on assists, it gave veigar reason to leave lane and contribute elsewhere in team fights instead of farm in lane only, while still increasing his power by +5 AP per kill OR assist. upping him to 52%.

then riot felt the need to appease the boards "too much veigar" threads or "veigar OP" despite only boasting 52%.... and still sub 50 if the game ended before 30minutes. so they decided to go ahead and destroy veigars wave clear. good job riot.

and now league of thunderlords and early game snowballs further hurts veigar, due to low base hp and inability to proc TL himself, now 46% gutter. good luck.

basically because riot is riot, they wont touch him again because hes neither broken nor over the top and requires fixing, and because he was "just fixed" they will ignore him much the same as yorick, for forever.

He was never pick/ban status as a support. He saw a little bit of play situationally and that's it. There were many other good supports and he never really outshined them.
