The point being, they know people despise support to the degree you don't need to queue as "fill"

I mean it's not like support is a bad role, hell I've made enemies rage quit, so it's fun

It's not a bad role at all. People just tend to belittle anything that doesn't involve carrying directly.

People see supports as things they only need if they are bad. And while there is some truth to that (if you are just leagues better than everyone else then you don't really need help but most people who think this aren't actually leagues better) it's not a role that you can just ignore.

That's like trying to run a play without a tech crew. Or sending soldiers out without air support or medics. The support role makes sure that there are as few factors as possible getting in the way of you and your job.

Supports can decide who lives and who dies.

Support's the least popular role, and has been from some time. It's the only role I've ever been in or seen auto-queue or get darn close to auto-queueing. The reason why we have autofill is entirely due to reasons like this, where the natural bias of a player and their preferred role leaves other positions wanting. It is what it is~.
