Can you replace Zed's energy with mana?

Think about it, it wouldn't be a huge nerf, it would be more like a power shift.

Zed has enough energy to kill 1-2 people and get out, and considering his squishiness that'll usually be all he has time for, so the energy isn't particularly limiting.

But if he had mana, then he'd actually have a harder laning phase. And from what I've gathered through the forums (I haven't actually seen Zed in my own mid games in quite some time) his ability to be in lane forever is the real problem.
